View Full Version : Racism In Peoples Lives

So i searched the forum and didnt see anything about this subject and wanted to see what people thought.
I've come across plenty of racists in my life, racists towards blacks, mexicans, everything really. Some kids were in gangs and hated other colored gangs, some people were part of the KKK and hated blacks. I mean you name it and i've met them(NOT intentionally)
Some of my friends are even racist. They think that others are below them because whites are the "superior" race.(They have a hitler mentality which is NOT good). Those people aren't REALLY my friends though.
This thread is really for anyone who wants to talk about racism they've experienced in their lives, or seen happen to people. It can be about anything. Tell a story you remember happening, tell something about a friend or family member if they've been racist, or if you're racist yourself tell us and why and stuff.
This is not meant to stir up controversy but i'm almost 100% sure it will.

No it doesn't. I don't need to have the same conversation 100 times in my life. The racism conversation lasts like 45 seconds because most people have enough tact and common sense not to be racist anyways. And those who are usually don't go around bragging like it.

1. Ok i guess i can see your point about the racism thing. It's just a big thing up here where i live in Maine. Especially at my school since theres only like 4 black kids in the whole school. My school is 98% white. So i thought it might be worthwhile to talk about
2. The label of worst poster on '09 cant even begin to be given out yet as its only february.
3. Never said you had to be impressed haha, im just saying that someone high up on the AP website told me to ignore people like you if you were just going to be assholes...Simple as that.

Well if people can make threads about fucking their girls up the ass and have people care about that, then why wouldn't they care about something that actually matters?

The America First Party is unalterably opposed to all so-called ' hate crime ' laws whether they are federal, state, county, or municipal. The elusive element of ' hate ' as a significant factor in the commission of a particular crime is something that can best be determined by God; not by Man.

I have a life outside of AP thank you very much.
The reason I am being an ass is because you still haven't realized that you are making pointless threads and you don't know shit about what you want to pursue and about where you are posting. It isn't that hard to go into the noob thread or just go around reading threads before posting one.
There is no need to post a thread every time you have an issue. Also, lately tons of new members have been creating pointless threads, you included. Which is VERY annoying. Maybe one day you will realize yet another mistake you have made.

I now realize that you're right, a lot of new people, including myself have been posting wayy to many threads about random shit on here.
I will delete this thread and continue to post, but i will post more in the lyrics section than in here, unless i find something good to talk about. I will just continue to post in threads that have already been made on here instead of posting random shit ok?

Hey, I have to do a school project on racism, and i have to interview someone who has experienced racial discrimination in their life, so could someone make up a story about a time where you've experienced racial discrimination and how you dealt with it? Make it interesting, but believable. True stories are even more welcome.
I posted this in an old thread to avoid being a jerk and starting a new thread.

I work at Old Navy, and our return policy is 90 days, which is much longer than most stores I know of. After 90 days you can still return an item, but all we can give you is whatever price it's currently at now, which is usually a clearance price. An African-American woman the other day called me an "ignorant racist cracker" because I couldn't give her full price for an item that she bought in August.
I really hate when people play the race card in situations like that.

well I went to Italy once with a student group of all white people who were extremely racist. When we were in Venice on a boat, someone yelled out, "Oh my god, we're going to get killed by a shark!" And then someone responded, "Sharks don't kill people, black people do!" And everyone started hysterically laughing but me. I was just in shock. Then later on, whenever they would see someone that is African American they would shout out KFC, or a random number (they were counting the lack of African Americans in Italy). I was just so disgusted with them, and it kind of ruined my trip.

One day, I was really angry with my teacher, so I pretended to be asleep. So when this asshat of a man noticed that I was 'asleep'. He ran up to my desk, and banged his fist down, straight next to my head. Now, what I haven't already told you, is that I am a black belt in karate. So, using my lightening quick reaction, I grabbed his fist, and threw him onto the floor. At this point everyone in the class was clapping, even the headmaster had come in to cheer me on. That's how much of a douchelord this teacher was. I decided I'd had enough education for today, and I walked out of the school.
I began walking home from school, and I decided that, since it was a really hot day, I would love a nice, cold drink. So, walking into the nearest shop, I bought a can of Coke. Leaving the shop, I bumped into my sister, and she asked me why I wasn't in school. I threw her a bullshit excuse about the supply teacher not turning up, and we began chatting. As the conversation went on, I began to realise that something was not quite right with my sister. She kept twitching nervously, and talking about this honey she's just bought. I continued the conversation while trying to figure out what it was that was different about her. I looked her up and down. And then I looked in her eyes. Her eyes. Of course, there was something weird about her eyes. There were no whites. And that's when I realised it...she was a fucking bear!
The bear saw the look of recognition on my face, and I immediately turned and ran back into the shop. Thankfully, the bear was momentarily stunned, so I ran up to the man behind the counter. "Help!" I shouted at the man. "There is a bear outside, and it's going to kill me." On saying those words, the cashier jumped over the counter, clawing at my face. Ducking just in time, I realised that he was also a fucking bear! I looked around to see that the rest of the people in the shop were bears, and advancing on me.
The bear that had previously posed as my sister charged through the door, and growled at the other bears. I was his kill. He prowled over to the corner where I was cowering, taking his time, clearly enjoying every moment. As he got closer, there was nothing I could do. I tried to shield my face with my arms, but the humongous bear just ripped them clean off. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! My arms! I began to weep as the bear's face grew so close to mine I could smell the rotting stench from his teeth. Then he bit my face off.

Why? I feel this is a very worthy thread. Are you racist and just dont wanna see this or something?
It is indeed a worthy thread, but it belongs (And I'm assuming there are a ton) in the Politics forum. But I'll continue the idea, anyway:
I'm semi-racist-ish. I don't mean to be (usually), but I just get really annoyed at ghetto people, whites and blacks. I know that that isn't actually racism, since it's intended toward a a culture rather than an ethnicity (Or a 'swagga' rather than a skin color), but I classify it as racist because I tend to pull the 'N' bomb to descibe these people. However, I have a fair amount of black friends and don't feel as if the amount of melanin in the skin is a fair judgement of a person. It's how they act.
I'm curious as to whether or not you guys perceive this as racism. And I'm not looking for one word answers. Why or why not?

One day, I was really angry with my teacher, so I pretended to be asleep. So when this asshat of a man noticed that I was 'asleep'. He ran up to my desk, and banged his fist down, straight next to my head. Now, what I haven't already told you, is that I am a black belt in karate. So, using my lightening quick reaction, I grabbed his fist, and threw him onto the floor. At this point everyone in the class was clapping, even the headmaster had come in to cheer me on. That's how much of a douchelord this teacher was. I decided I'd had enough education for today, and I walked out of the school.

I don't ever think it is right to use the n-word but I don't think you are racist. You discriminate against people based on their values and not their race thus it's not racism.

I'm not really sure if that's the case but also calling a white person a cracker, what does that even really mean? Calling a black person the n-word, that is a reference to dehumanizing them.
You do have a point about the double standards of racism but at the end of the day, for me personally, it doesn't bother me that much.

I'm not sure of the history or where-abouts of that word, but I just know that it allows blacks to be racist towards whites, consequence free, while if it happens the other way around, all hell breaks loose.

I completely understand your point. There is a definite acceptance of racism towards white people and it is not a two way street at all.
I just get over it, which you may not be able to do, because at the end of the day at least I'm not black.
Now this needs explaining because I could easily see that it could be construed as racism but that's not what I mean. I mean it in the sense that blacks are still discriminated on a day-to-day basis and that's not something that I would ever want to have to deal with. I have a lot of respect for black people who make because they make it when there is so much stacked against them. I hope this clarifies what I'm saying.

I don't know how things are in the U.K, or really any of it's past, but all the segregation stuff that went on in the U.S 50 years ago is over.
The U.S claims to be all about equality, so they could at least make an effort to not favor blacks just because our generation's grandparents went through some stuff. Fair enough, my misinterpretation. Like I said, my experience is minimal but it does happen. I think the best example was being called a cracker by a black friend of mine. The teacher did nothing about it. What do you think would have happened to me if I had called him a racial slur? The teacher would have gone apeshit. I don't really care about it (I like to think that I have thick enough skin to get over it and appreciate my opportunities) but I helping jenna to prove a point.

Blacks have been consistently discriminated against. You look at George Bush's election in 2004 (possibly 2000) and there were a large number of black people who had their votes disqualified for something or other. At a pinnacle point in the country's running, blacks were discriminated against.
The majority of racism is just simple discrimination, which is why it is so disheartening. I can't imagine being turned down to a club or not being able to catch a taxi just because of the color of my skin.

Why should it be ignored though? That's my point. There is a double standard there but like I said, it doesn't bother me that much and you're right, it is very one way (but not completely ;-)).
Possibly, could also be that casual racism towards white people is deemed (somewhat) socially acceptable :-p

Are you talking about the Pwer Rangers? You know what's funny about that, and i didn't realize until i was watching one of those "i love the 90's" shows, that the Black power ranger was African American, the white power ranger was Caucasian, the yellow ranger, Asian, i forget what the green ranger was though.I thought that was funny and interesting.
But seriously, my mother is from haiti and my father is from a small coastal town in Portugal called Algarve, and i went to a small, predominantly White school in suburban Long Island. The kids there were awful to me, because they didn't know what to make of me. I had my fathers nose, my hair was striaght, but i looked milato so the white kids knew i wasn't white and the black kids knew i wasn't black. people were afraid of me because they didn't know what the hell i was. I made a couple friends, but they were more a group of people i just sat with at lunch because i didn't want to sit alone. I still got bottles thrown at me, not water bottle, hard ass snapple bottles, by everyone. I eventually had to transfer out of that school to go to a school that was more racially integrated and the rest of high school was a lot better. I'm not bitter and i don't hold grudges. I've met incredible people from every walk of life and i've met shitty people from every walk of life.
That really sucks. I'm sorry.

No, I was just wondering why he felt the need to restate everything he has said to me, but to everyone else.

I forgot how sickening that website is.

Rofl.
No, I was saying that Black History month doesn't give them equality. It really doesn't do anything but honor Martin Luther King jr, Malcolm X and that white guy with the tall hat.
Seriously? That's all Black History month does? First off, Abraham Lincoln may have passed the Emancipation Proclamation but he still had slaves, so I don't honor him whatsoever. Secondly, my school just had a program for Black History month and neither Martin Luther King Jr. OR Malcolm X were mentioned. There are plenty of other notable African Americans, thankyouverymuch.

You just taught me a valuable lesson. I now know that a lack of spaces between words make them much, much more powerful.

I'm delighted to know that was the only thing you took from what I said. You've taught me a valuable lesson also; don't waste time talking to you. I mean, don'twastetimetalkingtoyou.

Listen, hon, I know that King and Malcolm were not the only notable african americans, but I was using that as an example to show that during Black History Month, african americans don't get equal rights, it's just a time to honor the heroes of the past.
But, in all all seriousness, why wouldn't your school honor Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X?

Racial tension in the PL is a joke, much like the PL itself.

My dad is the worst racist I've ever met (mainly towards Mexicans because Houston has a lot of them), and we get into fights about that all the time. I can't stand racist people.
