The Spill Canvas or Thrice? What do you think he'll make it? He already said that TSC would be it, but then he heard Thrice and in his review called it "perfect," which is quite the statement because he's never said that about any album.
I'm gonna go with...Thrice.

haha and why do we care? Tate... makes me think of Tater tots. Sonic... mmmmm.
I personally think Thrice will crack the top 7 at least and Spill and Cartel will sit in the 15-20 range. A lot of really good albums have come out. I remember last year I had little filler albums from 11-20. This year I'm having trouble fitting all the albums into a top 20.

Wow, okay, one of the most miscontrued statements ever made on this board. I have talked to Tate. I was just wondering what would be his favorite album of the year because he had said that nothing would top TSC but then said that the Thrice album was "perfect." Seeing as how I really enjoy the end of the year awards, I wanted to find out what everyone would think of this particular dilemma as a precursor to the actual awards.
Jason Tate is a major part of this scene and what this one guy thinks influences a lot of people. So, in some sense, it's actually important. Maybe you're too cool to care what Jason Tate thinks, but some people actually like his taste.

Do you realize how often he says an album is perfect or acts as if a previously unheard of group is The Clash of our generation or something along those lines, if you were going by those guidelines you'd have 10 albums of the year.
From what I understand about the end of the year awards it's all based on a collective from the staff.
Okay on this second part saying Jason Tate is a major part of the scene, I want you to stop and think about what you have just said and how utterly ridiculous that sounds. Because if one guy has that kind of a voice then I want no part of "this scene." I've been into this type of music for about 3 years now and met a lot of people from almost every part of the country, none of them have a clue who Jason Tate is and could not care less about what he or anyone else thinks.
I never said I was too cool to care about what anyone thinks, I disagree with people and I may think they come up with some idiotic opinions that show no real depth of character when they state them and think that most of the music that they listen to is hand fed, but I will still care long enough to at least give their opinions a fair chance. Like for example since it's been discussed, the new Thrice album. I loved Thrice back in the Illusion of Safety Days, saw them live and I wasn't really impressed, got the new album(Artist In the Ambulance) and I was very disappointed by it. So based on my experiences so far common sense tells me I will probably not like this album and so now I'm hearing from all the same people who say The Artist In the Ambulance was amazing and that this one is even better, it only makes me think I'm going to dislike this one ever more. Now, you take Say Anything's album. I love it, I still listen to it a couple of times a week and I probaby won't stop for a very long time.
Oh and good job finishing up a surprisingly well written rebuttal with a completely asinine statement on my grammar.

I actually think Cartel is a little more solid all-around than NOY, but NOY has some outstanding tracks.

Still doesn't beat Houston Calls for me. That's just so catchy and exactly what I want from pop-punk. But I don't classify AFS as pop-punk.

I think I'm the only person on AP who has yet to hear Sufjan's album. I have to do that.
It's a good cd. Nothing as stellar as some were saying, but he's an excellent musician and worth checking out.

I just love the fact that i'm not the only person that comes to this site and realizes that a majority of you are just lonely losers who try to establish real relationships. I mean it is extremely pathetic that all of you are guessing what Jason Tate is going to pick to be album of the year. Get a fucking life.
