no they clinched it because they are up 2 games on cleveland and if boston wins tomorrow they will still have the better head to head record.
all the crazy playoff scenarios were only if cleveland, boston, and ny had the same record. now, boston either can clinch the wildcard with a boston win or a cleveland loss.

if boston wins, then they play at fenway for the division crown

The Phillies have been spanking the ball today.
I'm praying they win out and Houston chokes.
I want my Phillies in the playoffs :(

no, yankees clinched the title.
Boston clinched a 1 game wildcard playoff or the wildcard depending on tomorrow.
It all comes down to tomorrow for the NL wildcard. Hopefully Oswalt pissed off God and he actually pitches a bad game. Phils also need to finish off a sweep of the Nats. The late game loss to the Mets this week killed the Phillies.

Too bad the season is over tomorrow, I would love to see Rollins get to Dimaggio's record.

Well if you're alive next season, you will be able to. Streaks don't stop just because the season ends.

It's not the same, though. Rollins is on a hot streak right now, if the season was longer, he could break it. Problem is, if the Phillies don't make the playoffs, it'll be 6 months before he takes another at-bat, and he won't be on this hitting high then. It's just not the same.

Nothing relevant to this discussion, but what happen to ball state? 16 players suspended from todays game?

Haha, some book scandel, athletes on scholarships get free textbooks, and some BSU players from football and the volleyball team were abusing that privelige by getting extra books for their friends. So NCAA got involved and suspended like 54 BSU athletes.
