Completely underrated band and one of my favorites of all time. What's your favorite record? If someone says The Weirdness they are banned from this thread.

Bump, there's got to be some Stooges fans on this site.

When I was around twelve my uncle gave me a large box filled with albums that he didn't listen to anymore and thought I might like. I wasn't really into music at the time but one of the gems in the box was actually Raw Power. I remember being kind of freaked out by the dude on the cover so I put it away and didn't listen to it for a long time (besides, Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars seemed far more interesting; coolest album title I'd ever heard at the time, and the title track was a fucking jam).

Anyway, just recently I was looking through my old music collection and there's Iggy Pop staring off into the distance on the cover of an album I completely forgot I owned. Needless to say, I appreciate it a lot more now than I did then.

Haha, that's awesome, sounds like your uncle liked good music.

Bump. One of the most influential bands ever, deserves way more love than 8 posts.

I'm a huge fan of Fun House, but I haven't heard much else. I also really like Iggy Pop's solo work, mainly The Idiot and Lust for Life.

Raw Power will rip your face off and feed it to you. Such an intense album.

Like most have already stated, Raw Power and Fun House are terrific.

Voted least likely to appear in a Stooges thread.

Fun House and Raw Power are both great. Fun House would probably be my personal favorite.

Raw Power really set the bar for high-energy music. It still sounds so relevant today, I can't believe it was released in 1973.

This renaissance is surprising. I thought my bump would be left hanging, if you will.

Really? No love for the self-titled?

"I Wanna Be Your Dog", "No Fun", "1969", fucking classics!

I listen to Raw Power the most, but Fun House and the self-titled are great too.

Just heard my first Stooges record, Raw Power. So fucking good. Who knew stuff from '73 could rock so hard. I think I probably heard Pop's mix, in which case, I'd really like to hear Bowie's.

Listening to The Stooges for the first time. It's not quite on par with Raw Power, but it's definitely quite good. And there are very few songs as awesome as "I Wanna Be Your Dog."

The Stooges + Henry Rollins are playing together on April 19th in Ann Arbor, MI!

And just listened to Fun House for the first time. Noisiest garage band in the world. There may never have been a guitar sound with more balls.

"I Wanna Be Your Dog" has so much replay value.

A lot of people say that The Ramones and The Clash created the punk rock scene.. My answer to those people is that those bands make the punk rock scene popular, but Iggy and The Stooges were punk before The Clash and The Ramones even existed..

The whole punk discussion is a bit of a circular argument really, there's no definitive answer to that question.

Anyway The Stooges are fun as fuck. Just a bunch of guys playing rock n roll, but it's so edgy and aggressive. Raw Power, The Stooges and Fun House are garage rock at its finest.

AlternateToLife

I never thought it was circular. I just figured it depends on how you view "created." The Velvet Underground created the scene, The Stooges/The New York Dolls created the attitude, The Ramones created the sound and The Sex Pistols/The Clash popularized it and made it political.

In other news, Raw Power rocks my brain loose. Sick record.
