I think someone called this... I can't remember who, but someone said they'd hit a million in the
next week... well kudos to whoever said that.

Amazing band... Hands down.

Really? I thought from the looks of my scene points, most people here hated me.

at least I have one friend.

I don't bash bands I don't like, I bash bands that suck.

You won't see me bashing Minor Threat. I don't like them, but they don't suck.

you see what I'm getting at?

Panic! at the Disco sucks.

Worst argument ever.

So who decides if a band sucks or not? is there some rating sytem im not aware of?

I guess people don't understand this site very well. Their are very few negative reviews and their isn't much bashing on bands (unless you're hawthorne heights). You find a staff member or two that you have similiar musical tastes with, and you find new bands.

If you find things you dislike with an album, you point them out and discuss them, but saying a band "sucks" is rather pointless, it accomplishes nothing.

Anyways, I was gone this weekend, so I doubt PATD makes it 500+ plays on my Audioscrobbler, but who knows, maybe it will. I really just hope it doesn't get old, many albums this year haven't held strong all year.

Me and yes

and it wasn't an argument.

they are the most overrated band (here anyway) since Fall Out Boy, who ironically, they stole their sound from.

ok than, worst statement ever.

sigh, FOB did not invent pop-rock or whatever genre you choose to place these guys in. Just cuz the lead singer sound like patrick does not mean its a rip off of FOB.

ya but to be fair i think FOB's success helped open the door for these guys.

1 million plays isnt really "special" anymore.
not that im saying bands shouldnt be honored for it, cause it's awesome.
but its way easier for a band to hit 1 million plays now than it was 6 months ago.
cause purevolume gets more people every single day.
that's all there is to it.
so it should really only be honored if they reach 2 million.

I'll be honest, when I first heard these guys and heard the resemblance to FOB (both vocally and a little bit in some of the music) I wanted to just write them off. And then I kept hearing about them and hearing about them and decided to give them more of a chance. Not the greatest thing I've ever heard, but they are definitely catchy. Good lyrics, good grooves and just an all around fun record.

Furthermore, given how young they really are (individually and as a band) I think they have a lot of potential. If they can take the pop-rock/punk/dance/vaudevillian sounds that they incorporate and develop it into their own unique style (kind of how Incubus did with their funk/reggae/rock/hip-hop/jazz sound) they can definitely make their mark on the music world.

Right now though, I can understand how people would want to write them off as another flash-in-the-pan/cashing-in-on-the-success-of-others kinda band. But i still recommend giving it a chance, it is quite a fun record.

Excite bike is an amazing game. Best Avatar I have seen yet.

And once they start selling more, I think FBR will give them some more money for their tours to add the synth, etc/

i completely agree. the first time you hear it you groan and say "ugh not ANOTHER band like this" (especially london songs . . .) but the 2nd half of the album with all the horns and pianos changes your mind in a heartbeat. i'm in love with the song "theres a good reason . . ." because it sounds something like big bad voodoo daddy/squirrel nut zippers type. the big band influence is awesome.

yes, the lasting power might not be there. but i definitely expect "lying is the most fun . . ." to be plastered all over Z100/TRL/etc. soon.

Haha I remember reading a post exactly last week saying "I bet P!ATD gets over a million plays on purevolume by next week."

Good call.
