What are people expecting for the new Brand New CD?
Personally, I am expecting a dark vibe like Deja, but with a lot more electronic tones on there, since they are all about MW/C and all. I'm thinking maybe like Straylight's "Hands In The Sky" (awesome song)...

I'm expecting a shit load of hype that won't be backed up. I've grown out of the two older cds. This probably won't end up doing much for me.

Sorry, Thrice is way better than Brand New. Vheissu is really good, I love it.
i think itll be poppy as fuck so more people will like it.
they want to change the world.
Not half as good as moneens new album will be.

I hope the lyrics are a little more mature and that they keep harmonizing. Their bass oriented songs were the best on the last album so I hope they continue down that path.

I think Vhiessu is boring as hell. The hard parts are some of the worst they've written. Not what I wanted out of a Thrice album.

I expect that I will be disappointed in it. Not that it'll be horrible, but my musical tastes have changed a lot since Deja Entendu, and unless Brand New has changed its sound enough along with me, odds are that I won't enjoy it nearly as much as I did when Deja came out.
I mean, I was obsessed when Deja came out, and the odds of that happening with this album are not that great.

I could not agree more. Sic Transit was the best song of the year, and I wanted more of that.

agreed, not enough hard songs on the new Thrice disk..
as far as Brand New goes, they will never live up to their work on Deja. Every other album they put out will be just a shadow of what Deja was to most people who enjoy Brand New.

That's a real personal song to me, but mine is Jaws Theme, all the way. I'll be cliche and say "Play Crack the Sky." Though Jaws Theme & Guernica are my favorites also. For a long time I was obsessed with the first half of the CD, and I didn't give the rest much of a chance. Now, I realize my mistakes.
It doesn't matter how amazing the BN album will be, it will always be "overhyped" and "overblown." Jesse's lyrics won't be as intricate, Vince won't be as creative. The band will have not evolved and become something entirely different. I'll still love it I'm sure.

I agree about the listening to the first half too much. I did the exact same. At the moment, Guernica, Jaws Theme, and Good to Know are my favorites. But Quiet Things will always have a place in my heart. How about I just love the whole album lol
But I agree with what most of you are saying. It will be overhyped no matter how awesome it is. We've all been waiting on this album for a long time and with as awesome as Deja is, we're going to expect something even better. Hopefully it is something that will blow us all out of the water, but I'm doubting it... I think our expectations are too high.

People are going to bash it, it's inevitable, and claim everyone just listens to it just because. People have said that to me about Deja and well I preordered Deja Entendu (got a lameass poster of them posing for Abercrombe or something) before I even knew about this site. The reason why I even joined the site was because I was like, "shit, this site talks about Brand New and other bands I like. Let's check it out..."

I think that song is mediocre for a Brand New song...they lyrics are a little weak for them but not bad for a band like FOB...they have better talent than that and they have shown that...up until a few months ago I thought Am I Wrong was a Brand New song....speaking of which...does anyone have the original version of Am I Wrong?

My speculations are probably completely wrong but I think BN will continue to head towards the a more songwriter based sound. Jesse wants to be the new Morrissey. It probably will disappoint many people but albums that attract so much hype and anticipation always do.
