Whats everyone thoughts on the new aim beta. I like the look of it. The tabs are great. It was a little to hard to set a buddy icon though.

I tried the new AIM... I didn't really like it. Couldn't figure out how to change my profile... Don't think you can. It was missing some regular features. Of course as soon as I got it I started having problems. So I got rid of it. Now every Monday evening, AIM kicks me off for a half hour and doesn't let me back on. Been going on for 4 weeks now. And then other random times. Whether it ties into that I don't know, but ever since I d/l it I've had that problem.

Hmmm, so from reading this I think I'm going to try out Trillian Pro, although I've tried out Trillian numerous times and always went back to AIM. I'll give it one more go.

the new AIM is actually really good...i like the feature where you can switch between IMs easily

however, the lack of profile support is very annoying...and even though its a BETA...the features are irratating

Trillian is ugly and can't support having a lot of tabs open at once without having to scroll far to see them...that annoys me. The file support capability of having to zip folders is obnoxious. I like Gaim's interface, but it can't send files at all. That leaves me using DeadAIM 4.5, which has the best tabs and file support. It basically takes regular AIM and adds logging, aliases, removes the ads, and adds tabbed windows. Works for me.

Don't download AIM Triton...it has tons of spyware in it and it installs like 5 other programs too.

Thanks for the info - but I'll stay with Gaim cause it's got all my logs already there. But I have heard about deadAIM - I just though it was an AIM loggging thing and not an actual IM client. I'll have to check it out.

deadAIM is rad, but it's somewhat defunct now, as it only works with AIM 4.5...if you've upgraded since then, you can't really get it. It's like 5 bucks too.

By far the best AIM extension program there is. You gotta pay 5 bucks for it, but it's well worth it. I love it.

If anyone wants it let me know, cause if I send you an invite I get 6 extra months or something on my free messenger mate updates.
