...i called my ISP today to compain about the unreliable service. it goes in and out and my reception is poor a lot of the time. and i knew if i did they'd look into my uploads/downloads but my gf's computer is hardly even connecting and i'd never hear the end of the bitching so i called anyway.

sure enough they checked my uploads and called me back saying that i needed to turn off uploads on whatever file sharing programs i am using because i went about 16 times over the average upload in my apt complex. and that if they notice it again they'll shut my internet off (my internet is free with my rent so i'd still be paying for it and not getting it).

and i was 500mb away from getting OiNK invites too. damn.

just thought i'd share.

well, i called them before to see if they'd open up one of my ports so i could get faster uploads and they said no and that if they noticed i had used an "excessive" amount of bandwidth (but they couldn't define what excessive was when i asked them) that they'd turn my internet off.

i'm happy they at least gave me notice first and told me what the average is (about 100MB) so i can chill for a while and then try to make sure i don't go much higher than 100mb a day whenever i do open bittorrent back up.

at my parents house though i get excellent upload speeds (did 500MB last weekend at their place) so i may just chill on OiNK and hit up mIRC for new stuff and continue to clear off space until i can go home and then download/upload like mad.

they don't care about downloads, it's just uploads that are a problem. haha.

dude, i'm on the 7 meg dsl from Qwest... and we're splitting bandwidth 4 ways here (through a switch, no router) and i was dling at speeds in excess of 840 yesterday! my uploads are set to not go above 10kbps. guess i'm stingy

my Grand Slam was supposed to come with sausage...but they gave you bacon? damnit i hate denny's!
