(I'm a little surprised that there wasn't already a thread about them; not that I expected a lot of P86 love, but I thought someone would have brought them up at some point.)
They are working on (or maybe just finished with?) a new album that will drop sometime this year, which I'm definitely looking forward to.

I remember seeing Project 86 at Cornerstone way back in '97 or '98. Haven't heard much of them since. I know one of their members produces the Tooth and Nail podcast

Never really got into them much, although I never really gave them much of a fair listen.

here's my take on P86:
I grew up in the "christian music" world, but never got into them. I don't own any of their albums, though a lot of my friends do. I feel like I also never gave them much of a fair chance. They just never initially blew me away on record. But I have seen them twice and both times were very entertaining.

Their new album, Picket Fence Cartel, comes out July 14th, and they'll be on this summer's "Scream the Prayer" tour (which seems like a pretty random tour for them to be on, but oh well). Track listing for the new album:
1. Destroyer
2. The Butcher
3. The Spectacle of Fearsome Acts
4. Dark Angel Dragnet
5. Cold and Calculated
6. Picket Fence Cartel
7. A John Hancock With The Safety Off
8. Two Glass Eyes
9. Cyclonus
10. The Black Brigade
11. To Sand We Return
Just thought I'd post this, since, you know, Project has SUCH a big fan base on this site. ;-)

I don't see why this band is going to be on Scream The Prayer tour other than the fact they're christian. The songs i've heard have no screaming at all and aren't really "heavy".

hey Ron Paul is awesome! And I like Project 86.
How did this thread go from "Hey, Project 86 rocks" to "Hey, I'm going to find a minute detail to try make fun of."

How did someone besides me bump this thread? P86 has four new songs streaming on their MySpace right now, all of which are pretty good. I really like "Dark Angel Dragnet."
My favorite P86 song is still "One Armed Man" or "Pipedream."

They were my favourite band 4 years ago. Not so much anymore, but I'm sure I'll give the new album a courtesy listen.

I love that song. I'm hoping that this new album is more consistent than Rival Factions.

it's very very raw. and pretty inaccessible. you have to give it a bunch of listens to get it. but it's definitely worth it

It's their best album since Songs to Burn Your Bridges By. Imagine the best of Drawing Black Lines combined with the best of Rival Factions, and you have a general idea of what to expect. Good stuff.

Ok, now I really have to hear it.. I was absolutely in love with DBL..thanx!
I love A Shadow On Me. Such a great song. Never really listened to much else from them. Aside from The Spy Hunter. That music video was awesome. And the one where they kill Schuylar from He Is Legend is pretty cool too.

"The Spy Hunter" is a great anthem.
Pipe Dream and Rebuttal are the only songs by these guys I can get into.

Not even "Stein's Theme"?

this could be considered shinfo but, Randy Torres is currently touring with anberlin as their percussionist, keyboardist, third guitarist and does bkgd vocals

I did hear about that. Nice, though Project 86 > Anberlin, simply because they're the band with Andrew Schwab.
So, I guess they have a live album coming out next month. There are a few songs not on the album I'd like, such as "The Forces of Radio...", but it's not a bad set list by any means. "Stein's Theme" is always great.
