Backseat Dreams

you'd rather I lie
Sometimes...
before my dreams overtake my thoughts
and my eyelids defeat my eyes
I wish to wake up to a midnight sunrise
-dialated pupils mirroring the blaze into a candle
while smoke slips through my lips.
Choking on a shadow that moves too fast;
The roaf collapses.
Walls sulk into submission as sweat is burned off my face
The skin on my legs change so many beautiful colors
and then black.
Tomorrow has said it's goodbye.
"Do you Anthony? Do you every think about how you're going to die?"
"No Ben, can't say that I have."
