Now I'm old. The Neverending Story was one of my faves as a kid. WHY in the world do they think they need to remake that?

He assured me that this was going to be a kick ass action movie, first and foremost; Ellsworth had just come from a five hour brainstorming session with director Dan Bradley - the second unit director and stunt coordinator for the Bourne films, among others - and the writer said that the action scene ideas were coming fast and furious. Bradley wants to bring a visceral impact to the movie, using a lot of handheld and bringing you right into the action, as opposed to Milius' glossier version.
That actually sounds kinda promising.

Part of the appeal of The Neverending Story is the nostalgia factor. The lousy special effects, the costumes, the MUSIC...they better not mess this up.

I don't mind a Neverending Story remake. Hopefully they won't make Artax die because that part still leaves me in tears lol

it's not even a remake. hell, not even a re-imagining. they just took the name and put it on a movie loosely based around some of the plot points of the Warriors

I would be much more understanding of "the wells running dry," if it didn't seem as though Fox were hell bent on destroying great stories, and making mediocre ones bad.

definitely with radio play. radio has become too bland, which is why i very rarely listen to it.

They should make a movie about the unoriginality of Hollywood.

If you start with the assumption that every idea is finite and will eventually be exhausted, you can justify any shitty decision you care to name!

Watching the Artax scene in Neverending Story as an adult is disturbing. How does a kid's movie have such an intense scene and more importantly, how did we deal with that when we first saw it? I'm pretty sure that's filed under repressed memories.

That plus seeing that a lot of major movie releases are based on books and comics.
It saddens me that most of the books that actually get purchased at my work (target) are the ones being made into movies.

i totally agree. no one knows what a good book is anymore, unless it is also a movie. we live in a society full of idiots.

05/30/09, 07:25 PM
remakes can be good (as long as you haven't seen the original and never do)
Let the Right One In comes to mind, but I don't wanna get yelled at by Jason again so I won't bring that up.
Neverending Story will be such a hit or miss, it could awesome and get a whole new generation to see it, I bet kids today laugh at the original because of the "awful" effects and stuff.
