This can be anyone from the undiscovered local band that you love, right upto the bands that are on the absolute brink of making it. This should be a lot of fun!

IMO check out CONDITIONS. Recently toured with Paramore and New Found Glory. Their bass player is a roadie for Paramore too. They're fxcking great, stupidly catchy, with vocals similar to Saosin, they deserve all the support that they get! Go have a look see.

They both have solid albums out right now, but neither are selling a lot, and Valencia's is hardly selling at all(which really sucks. A lot). Bands that have been touring for years don't have the fanbase that these bands have, they're both touring with major bands, and they're both on huge ass labels. "Broken through" doesn't have to mean radio play and video rotation on MTV, look at Radiohead for example.

Valencia and Hit The Lights are both probably in the top 50 most popular bands of their genre. If your definition of breaking through is to generate a platinum album, then it's almost impossible to do. I think you're really underestimating how popular they are.

Just because they aren't selling a lot of records doesn't mean they don't have cred in their genre. Nobody is selling records. There are like 10 times the bands making music than there were 10 years ago. And now, you can download full albums in 3 minutes for free. High supply, low demand. So, I guess it's about how you describe "breaking through". But I don't think your single needs to be played on the radio before you break through because these bands have made it further than 99% of other bands.

Me and Death Cab have a sort of a love/hate thing going on. They're a really enjoyable band, especially for their genre and a lot of their songs come in handy when you're making a mix for some girl you dig. But they've never made an album that amazes me. Maybe they're just an album band. But hey, they're better than the Shins that's for damn sure.

The band is signed to Iron Works (owned by Kiefer Sutherland and his friend Jude Cole). They have already released one album called "I Trust You To kill Me" and it's well worth a listen.
