The Pixies may make a new record, or just keep milking their legacy, after a set of new songs are written.

Front man Frank Black told Billboard that his band mates are split on the idea of making a new record, saying some fear they may end up issuing a sub-par album simply to meet contractual obligations. The alt-rock icons are set to start writing new songs for consideration for the record that’s under consideration.

Black told the magazine that members of the band “don’t want to mess with the legacy” of The Pixies with a new album. The band’s been entirely enthusiastic about cashing in on that legacy, with a string of live releases and an extended comeback tour.

they better just stop now. canuse if they cant even be confidet in their own music then its bound to be an awful relase. and if they arent confident enough in putting out a new CD then why would i even want to listen to it?

that's what they just said.

they'll write songs, if they're confident in them, they'll release an album.

if they're not, they won't.

if they're confident enough to release it, i'll definitely be getting it on release day. i trust them. they've never disappointed me before.

i dont understand the pessimism about a new pixies release. whats the worst that can happen? its not like anyone will suddenly think that doolittle sucks.

If they're back, why not do an album. Those albums will still sell. I've always supported Frank's solo stuff (it's always really good, and twangy). I would be very interested in hearing what those people would make together after ten years. It's going to be interesting if nothing at all.

I think they should go for it. :)

i really hope they make this. not only because it will hopefully rock but also because i bet my friends they would make a new album when they went on the reunion tour and that would be a sweet bet to win.
