I've really been into jam bands lately, and one of my favorites right now is Ekoostik Hookah. And then some folk punk I'm almost positive nobody knows of Ghost Mice, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Johnny Hobo, and Pretty Hot. They are bad ass.

One band I really really used to bum were Emanuel. They are probably quite well known in US but literally no-one has heard of them in the UK. I had to go to all sorts of lengths just to buy their album! A great band though, lots of energy and potential - it was a shame to see them end!

Think diverse. I guess you'd define them as shoegaze indie with a little post-punk. Think My Bloody Valentine with just a female singer, some Muse and classic Brit rock/pop influences and some Lush-style dream pop, and you're about half way to describing them.
