Which band fronted by Andrew McMahon do you like more, Something Corporate or Jacks Mannequin?

Both very good but what you think, and why?

Easily soco.

Soco no doubt.

JM. soco was good and fun, but andrew really takes huge strides and gains in creating real, heart-felt music through JM.

JM. I never could get into Soco

I used to like Jack's more, but recently I've really been loving SoCo. Ruthless is one of his best songs ever.

Easily SoCo

Andrew McMahon is a very, very, very good example of a sell-out.

both are to of my favorites and both or each of their cd's are constantly playing on my computer.....but i had to go with soco ;-)

VERY hard decision. I love both. I think Andrew did really well with soco, but he's grown musically since then and really displays how much talent he has with JM on a more personal level.

Something Corporate, definately.

North beats The Glass Passenger BY FAR.

Everything in Transit is probably the best cd, but overall I would say SoCo is the better band.

I like both albums from JM. But I only like LTTW from SoCo. So JM.

Explain.

He continues marketing to Pop-punk when there is not an ounce of punk in JM. JM is a pop band. SoCo was not.

When Jack's first came around my choice for these polls was always SoCo, and it was an easy choice. After JM's most recent album it's a much tougher call... I'm still on the SoCo side though.

I disagree.
Andrew McMahon did very well with both bands.

I disagree.
Andrew McMahon did very well with both bands.

I don't think SoCo is much better than JM, I just easily prefer it. To be honest, they are both fairly mediocre. I just think JM has a lot less authenticity/honesty. I don't appreciate an artist taking the route McMahon has chosen.

soco

This is a tough poll, because I think Jack's is the more consistent band, but I think the best SoCo songs are better than the best Jack's songs.

So songs like "Konstantine", "Ruthless", and "Cavanaugh Park" are better than anything by Jack's, but "Everything in Transit" is way more consistent from front-to-back than either of the SoCo albums.

something corporate got me through high school, and it is very hard for any band to compare with that. + i miss brian, clutch, and josh.

Thought SOCO would be winning by more,
I voted for Jack's Mannequin though, got into his 2 solo albums more so than Soco.

I love all of his stuff, but I have much more personal connections with the SoCo material. And North was a fucking masterpiece. It'll be a while before he can surpass that. And I don't know why, but the song Little from the Audioboxer EP just gets me every time.

JM, easily. The comments about Andrew selling out with JM are ridiculous. He's not honest with JM? If anything he is more honest than he was in SoCo. Anyway, SoCo was fun, but the music he is making now is far superior.

Edit: Actually, Something Corporate is better than Jack's Maniquin. Never heard of that band.

JM is run of the mill. Why don't you listen to the gazillion other piano-pop artists that are much better at what they do instead of the one that pretends his music is trendy just because he used to fit in with the scene?
