Some people say this was the worst thing metallica ever did and one of the worst things to happen to metal.I love it I just ripped it today and now im listening to it.What does everyone think of it (Metallica fans)

Also I would love to see coheed do an album like this.

Everyone I know who doesn't really care for them says it's their best album, but I know the diehard fans tend to not like it.

S&M is Metallica's Iris (goo goo dolls).

i loved what it did to some of the tracks. and didnt like what it did to some others (master of puppets notably). overall though, i really enjoyed it. 'twas ultimately worth overspending for it at barnes & noble after purchasing it on a whim.

i don't own a copy but the songs i'd heard from S&M were actually really good. i'd also like to hear Kiss' Alive III (i think it's 3) which features an orchestra.

I own it. I enjoyed it. It was far from their worst work, seeing they gave us Load, and to a larger extent, Re-Load.

Load had a couple songs I got into, but Re-Load was a disaster. I don't think one band's ever fallen off so hard.

yeah, its just...too intense of a track to tack an orchestral arrangment on to and not turn into overblown cheese... *shudder*

Only Metallica I listen to is Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightining or And Justice...., I havent even listened to one of those in almost two years im guessing, but if I were to listen it would be one of those albums.

Yeah I agree, the Black Album was good but you can do without it. Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and Justice were crazy.

I never even bothered with St. Anger, they lost it all on Re-Load.

Kill'em All = BEST Thrash record ever anyone?! I'd say so...only record that can rival that for me is Slayer's Seasons In The Abyss.

Good choice with that.

Kill Em All is awesome one of their best releases,my favorite is Master Of Puppets.

Justice was worth buying for "One" alone.

The biggest downfall of Metallica is when they kicked out Dave Mustaine.

Mustaine just playing guitar would've made them better.\

That or they should've kicked out Lars.

Which is why its one of their best records.

Now imagine the music portion if he would've been there even longer. Kirk is great, but no Mustaine in my opinion.

I agree. I think Mustaine would shred Hammett to pieces these days. heh. But it still doesn't deny the fact that Kirk's written some of the most memorable lead guitar parts & solos in heavy metal EVER. They're both money. I just happen to enjoy both bands pretty equally.
