Underoath (www.underoath777.com)'s They're Only Chasing Safety has hit #1 on Billboard 'Top Heatseekers' chart. Check out the press release below:

"[They're Only Chasing Safety] is an unqualified success, one of the most coherent albums in post-genre rock, a movement that's been spreading like wildfire since the walls between hardcore, pop, metal and emo were demolished."--DX Ferris, Alternative Press, September 2005

"[Underoath] has honed its sound from its early, metallic leanings to a streamlined mix of punk, metal and emo that's undeniably melodic and catchy." --Curtis Ross, Tampa Tribune, (5/12/05)

UNDEROATH's CD with bonus DVD reissue of their breakout THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFETY album has debuted at #1 on the Billboard "Top Heatseeker" chart. This marks the first #1 debut for UNDEROATH, whose infectious fusion of punk and metal is distinguished by soaring experimental melodies, electronic textures and unabashedly emotive lyrics.

The group's third album, THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFETY--originally released in June of 2004--first debuted at #2 on Billboard magazine's "Top Heatseekers" chart and 16 months later has now reached #1.

"We have some of the best fans in the world. When amazing things like this happen, it shows us how much they support us," said guitarist TIM MCTAGUE.

UNDEROATH, whom Guitar World hailed as offering "Turbulent tunes with undeniable choruses." (September, 2005), are currently blazing across the U.S. on tour with Thrice. The two-month trek includes upcoming stops in New York at Roseland Ballroom on November 1 and in Los Angeles at the House of Blues on November 21.

The double-disc CD/DVD reissue features four rare and previously unreleased songs as well as demo versions of three tunes that evolved into songs on THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFETY. The DVD portion is packed with over two hours of footage including live performances culled from UNDEROATH's 2004-2005 tours, as well as behind-the-scenes hi-jinks and a personal glimpse into the band's inner circle.

UNDEROATH's startlingly enigmatic video for "It's A Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door"--the second single off THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFTEY--is now airing on MTV2, mtvU and Fuse. It was directed by Josh Graham (Neurosis' A Sun That Never Sets [DVD], Dillinger Escape Plan's "Unretrofied") and captures the band's intensity. Alternative Press magazine hailed ""[It's A Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door as a] screamo-age murder ballad, the latest in a long tradition of romance stories that end badly, with passion smothering the life out of love." (September, 2005).

i dont get how people like the old stuff better, so much less originality, chasing safety has melodies and each song is unique

it was a very average album, i dont know why people get such boners over underoath these days when they write sub par songs like all those on tocs

Yeah, each song is so unique. Just like everything else. Cries of the Past was such a good album, and in my opinion, a lot more original than TOCS. The instrumentals were soo much better on COTP. And the fact that each song on that cd was over 7 minutes long, what's not to love?
