I LOVE Statistics. Brandtson and Statistics are my two basic recommendations I give to everyone, regardless of the type of music they listen to.

you've got to listen to all of it... and i think those demos have a different singer. a more gutteral death metal style guy. he sucks, their other singer is way better. i've got some demos with the other guy and they own.

Ah cool, the voice things at the start annoy me a bit, they're a bit cheesy lol, the second song sounds pretty awesome so far though so that's good :D

Yet again, Arctic Monkeys : www.myspace.com/arcticmonkeys and www.arcticmonkeys.com
The Harlem Shakes - pretty good, not amazing, NYC rock band
Clinic - Internal Wrangler is titz
The Clientele - good band, PFork's review ups them a little more than it should
I will always recommend: Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea : seriously, one of the best albums of all time
Andrew Bird - great stuff, he's in the "neo-singer/songwriter" category
Antony and the Johnsons - haunting melodies, beautiful
Television - Marquee Moon, my god, almost no words

The New Transit Direction
At times it sounds like Brand New c. YFW, but not at all the lyrics like them. They aren't so girl-focused as that album was. And they have some catchy ass hooks.
