hmm.. i'm taking this tomorrow.. and ive never taken it before. what is it like? im actually not as worried about the test as i am seeing my grade. any tips?

yeah thats really why im not to stressed out.. im just afraid of my scores coming back like 40 on the math part cause i blow at math. reading and english i usually do well on.

the HSPA is really what i should be worried about. if i fail that i really should just drop out. cause if you fail the HSPA, you cant pass high school.

i hate that. haha in german today we were taking a test and right in the middle of it somone did the loudest fart ever. and it was a girl so that made it 10x more funnier.

yeah i rocked them in hs. i remember i got this award for scoring in the 99th percentile on all the tests. the asian side in me loved it, the white side reminded me that i didn't have a girlfriend at the time.

Don't worry about scoring low. The psat is just there to show you where you need to focus and improve on before you take the sats. and it looks like you already know where you stand.

yeah when i got into 3rd grade they changed the IOWA to the Terra Nova.
in Nj it works like this
1-3rd grade- Terra Nova
4th grade- ESPA (wtf?)
5-7- Terra Nova
8th- GEPA- Determines if you will have trouble on the HSPA
9-10- Terra Nova
11- HSPA - Need To Pass
12- Do you even take one? if so, id imagine the Terra Nova.

they suck, but don't get nervous about it or anything. you can't really study for tests like this. well don't take that advice from me cause I never studied a test in my entire life and I still get As and Bs and Cs. the only way I get lower than that is if I miss school or something.

just dont make a huge deal out of it.

Last year, I hated the grammar section. There was only so many times I could read the sentence "Sally goes to the store and buys bread". It was horrible. They all began to look the same.

However, I kicked majoy booty on all the other sections.

i scored real low on the PSATs, cant remember what it was out of but I think i was in the 75th percentile, but the I got a 1490 on the SATs so don't worry about the PSATs, they don't necessarily determine how you will do on the SATs.

PSAT was stupid..I took it this past Wednesday. I'm a Sophomore though, they gave it to me for no apparent reason. I don't care how bad I do this year..Junior year is more important for the PSAT. You can get the NMSQT (National Merrit Scholarship) if you do well on it.

I really thought it would have been alot harder though. Some of the questions were real simple, which leads me to believe they were trying to trick me. :P

Don't take it like it's not a big test. It's actually pretty important because if you score high enough, you'll be a national merit semi-finalist and receive a lot of money in scholarships to several schools that give out merit scholarships. Most state schools do, and if the school you're considering doesn't hand out merit-scholarships based on PSAT scores, then it still looks quite impressive on your application. Hope this helped.

Yeah, the merit scholarship is really useful. I didn't have to worry only because I was taking it as a Sophomore. It wasn't necessary for me to take it, they just gave it to me for no reason.

Yah, that's true. It's really just practice and getting to know what the test is about sophomore year. I'm kind of mad i didn't study for it because I was off by a probably 3 right questions for national merit.
