im trying to do the one man band thing. i want to rely on noone but me, so im going to be playing shows just me a guitar and an ipod.
the one thing im having trouble with:
is there a universal way to hook an ipod to a pa? ive thought about getting one of
these (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Radial-ProAV2-Stereo-Direct-Box-180144-i1328192.gc):
and then attaching the red/whites to that.
any thoughts?

I don't see why you'd need anything more than a 1/4" to 1/8" TRS adapter, then a TRS cable run straight into a stereo input on the mixer. Or get a stereo to mono 1/4" mono splitter for the end of the TRS cable so they can use two separate inputs at the mixing board for the left and right channels.
Or are you planning on plugging it straight into the PA?

well, to be honest im not sure. i just want to be able to have the ipod on the stage with me to either me or my friend can control it, and i would rather not have it way at the back with the sound board. you know?
i just want to have a way that will work with all pas, big and small, since i will be playing big and small places.

Here's all the things you'll need...
1) 1/8" to 1/4" headphone adapter
2) 1/4" TRS to dual mono 1/4" cable (commonly called an "insert cable")
3) Either 2 DI Boxes, or 1 two-channel DI box
4) 2 XLR cables
That should get you set up with any PA you'll run into. The link you sent will definitely work, but you can get it done for a lot cheaper. Here's a couple cheaper dual-channel DI boxes:

And an insert cable:

once again mr. howell proves that he is singlehandedly the most useful person in these forums.
