View Full Version : Biggest letdown of the year, so far?

I'm sorry but I can't help throwing up PGP2 as the worst thing I've heard, not living up to any of the hype.

Whats the worst album you've heard so far?

Haven't listened to many new releases but Two Tongues is probably my biggest disappointment

I was expecting something close to a Say Anything record's quality, and got a face full of "eh"

No new record by The National yet is the biggest letdown of this year so far.

Someone had to get that out of the way. Thank you.

It's far too early for me to say... The only disappointment thus far for me was U2, but my hopes really weren't that high, and there is still a chance for it to grow on me. Maybe I'll bump this thread in a few months and have a good answer.

I am anticipating Brand New's record to be a huge let down to a lot of people.

It'll be good, but I think people are expecting too much from this band.

That might let me down simply because it is my most anticipated album of the year, and I've been completely obsessed with TDAG as of late. I currently have full faith in it being great, though.

Two Tongues

Without a doubt. Was expecting something half decent from the songs they posted on Myspace, but the album was utter wank.

dont think i've listened to anything new this year! wanna hear the new kaospilot though

03/03/09, 01:19 PM
Well. If Brand New's album is anything like that Brickhouse song they've been playing, I won't be disappointed.

The biggest disappointment so far this year is clearly Two Tongues. This has been a lame year.

willie nelson & asleep at the wheel - willie & the wheel

i know they were trying to recreate a certain sound & style with this album, but it just seemed so uninspired. i didn't see the point in recreating a sound that has been recorded so so many times before in the past, in the exact same vein. a more modern spin on that style would have been cool, such a waste of potential

That's a bummer. I'm really enjoying this record. It's nowhere near as fun as Willie and Marsalis collaboration from last year, but I'm having fun with listening.

Yeah. I really enjoy both those tracks, especially "On My Mind". And you're right, NWAF is without tracks like those mentioned.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say Two Tongues.

For once I can say that there is not one song that stood out/I can even name right now(minus Wowee Zowee, just because it's called Wowee Zowee).

This is driving me crazy and I'm prepared for a whole lot of flaming for not knowing this, but just what in the hell does PGP2 stand for?

As far as current let downs go, I was kinda hoping Common Existence would have another post rock-ish interlude like their last record did. The album as a whole is just as good as anything else they've ever done. They're a band who, in my eyes, have never put out a bad record which is surprising considering how long they've been a band but I still wish the new one had more of the diversity A City By the Light Divided had.

Aside from that everything I've heard this year has exceeded my expectations or matched them perfectly. Weird? I think so.

I'm interested in it, so I guess that makes 8. I didn't like Carpathia so the prospects of me liking this are very small.

Oh yeah nice avatar, Guilt Show is great.

yeah it came out today but i heard it a few weeks ago. it's really just a mess of electronics and deep bass. on the bright side, "Invaders Must Die" and "Stand Up" are two of the best tracks they've ever released.

Problem is it's an album with 13 songs, and only about two are even remotely decent. Two decent songs can't carry an entire album to be considered "good" or anything more than mediocre...

There's moments where Kasher's lyrics just dominate, but other parts of that CD are just really bland/forgettable.

Real biggest disappointment: people who leak albums three months early.
