View Full Version : Album Poems - check it out, funny, fun, deep, whatever.
so for poetry class i gotta write poems, but i'm getting the impression my teacher doesn't like my glorified limricks and slant ryhmes, so since i am incapable of writing a poem that isn't shallow, i decided to go through my album collection and make poems out of 1 album title a line-- no adding words, no mixing lines... 1 album a line... it turned out to be pretty fun actually, and i have a feeling the teacher will flip for em... heres one i put together.... try it yourself, you'll get a kick out of it.... it's also fun to see how many albums you know the corresponding artists to.

Damn, that would suck if your teacher actually looked all that up and saw that you plagirized all of that. Either that or happens to be a fan of any of those bands.

that.
...just blew my mind.
no, imma tell her that this is what i'm doing.
otherwise they'd be shitty poems, but when she knows they're album titles I think she'll love the idea of the gimmick.
and i would have put this in the poetry section, but that's filled with whining teenagers... this is more a fun thing to do when bored, stoned, whatever... that's why i put it in general.
also in general because it'd be interesting to see how many of the albums you know.
and in a forum that has topics like "potato soup and cheese" or something like that, i'm not too worried about placement. .... asshole ;)

WHOOPSADASIE.
didn't know you were a mod, sorry.

That is awesome. I like the first one on the list too. I know someone else thought of the titles, but putting them together like this is cool. Nice idea.

Remember Right Now
In The Wake Of Determination
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
Everything Is Alive and Everything Is Breathing
Watch Out!
North
From Under The Cork Tree
I Brought You Your Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
Pass The Flask
Drunken Lullabys
Full Colapse
Tell All Your Friends
Where You Want To Be
A Place In The Sun
Between The Never and The Now
Make Yourself Sick
And Don't Forget To Breathe
Open Your Eyes
Abandon Your Friends
Forever and Never
you're right, this was really fun to do

My First Impressions of Earth: Is This It?
It's The Unraveling, The Illusion of Safety...
The Silverstrand of stars dotting the night sky
All the Stars and Boulevards swirling
At millions of Revolutions Per Minute
I will Commit This to Memory
With a new sense of Clarity.
This Time Around, A Brand New Subdivision
Will mar The Everglow
The Colour and the Shape of the night sky
Becomes My Own Prison
Before These Crowded Streets,
The atmosphere refuses to Let Love In.
August and Everything After...
Such Blinding Stars for Starving Eyes
Will Saturate the Chroma.
So Much for the Afterglow.

hell yeah everybody, this was fun as hell and actually was responsible for me stumbling into a love for poetry... can't get enough of Jack Kerouac right now, who truly was a savage in terms our generation of nonconformists could only dream of comprehending.

well, this is almost a year later, and one of my teachers really loved it, along with the rest of my class (not the ones a posted...better ones) and another teacher just never told me what she thought about anything in my poetry compilation.....so i dunno what she thought.
the point, though, is that: that was way more fun than it should have been.
