what the f now?
10/19/05, 02:17 AM
hey whats up weenuses? Coheed and Thrice didn't make the cut because I haven't listened to them enough yet. So don't cry. And no, Cartel, Augustana, Valencia etc etc aren't on my list.

1 The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute - Best CD in years...I don't care how many people say they're "wankerish" or that their cd is "half ambient noises" anyone that plays an instrument should respect this band

2 Circa Survive - Juturna - finally another amazing cd out of this genre, right up there with Deja Entendu

3 Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cold Roses - This was probably one of the most overlooked albums of 2005 due to Ryan Adams injury plagued tours

4 Death Cab For Cutie - Plans - Definitely on a lot of Top 5's this year

5 The Kills - No Wow - Amazing that its just two people making this music. Great live show.

6 Bloc Party - Silent Alarms - The next big thing out of the UK...just getting started

7 Akron/Family - S/T - The most amazing album nobody will ever hear

8 Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth - Best NIN album since Closer

9 The Bravery - S/T - People claimed they were riding The Killers fame, but I think they have more talent musically

10 Between The Buried And Me - Alaska - Just amazing

11 Every Time I Die - Gutter Phenomenon - When you don't really pay attention it seems like just another cd, but when you actually listen to the whole thing you realize these guys are going to keep setting new standards for their genre.

12 LCD Soundsystem - S/T - Best album to dance and party to of 2005

13 Armor For Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead - seemed like the next Deja Entendu when I first listened....not quite there, but definitely has the potential

14 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Howl - It's perfect how they released two garage/rock albums then a folk/gospel album

15 The Juan MacLean - Less Than Human - He's wasting his time taking shots at Daft Punk when he could be making more tracks...the few standout tracks make this album huge, but the filler brings down the album...Could have been Top 10

16 Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze - Nothing amazing here, but definitely a solid rock album, these guys should open for Cream on a reunion tour.

17 Part Chimp - I Am Come - Just dirty hard rock

18 HeavyHeavyLowLow - Fuck It...EP - One of the best unsigned bands with huge potential if they can get their live act together

19 !!! - Take Ecstacy With Me/Get Up Single - Best Single of 2005, two covers, both done excellently

20 Team Sleep - S/T - The album sounding like a compilation decreases the greatness of the album has a whole, but has a few amazing songs on it

21 Beck - Guero - Almost as good as Odelay...almost

22 The Bled - Found In The Flood - The time signatures are getting crazier....but The Bled are trying to become more accessible....I say pick a road and go with it....The two styles clash way too much...The softer songs become too repetitive and lack substance, but the faster harder songs make the album

23 Gorillaz - Demon Days - Bad replay quality, but good pop dance album

24 Oasis - Dont Believe The Truth - If only these guys didn't lift their riffs from 60s/70s/80s bands...

25 Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit - Better than Something Corporate's latest efforts....This is what North should've sounded like

26 Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin - These guys could be metal gods if they tried to step out of the box a little

27 The Black Dahlia Murder - Masma - One solid album

28 Daft Punk - Human After All - Juan Maclean shows them up this year....leaving much to be desired from their next album. Too much "filler" not enough quality tracks...but still good...its Daft Punk man

29 Norma Jean - O God The Aftermath - Of course without that 11 minute song this CD wouldn't be that great

30 Kaiser Chiefs - Employment - All the songs start to sound the same after a while...A few good standout tracks though

31 Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn - The only Bright Eyes album I like

32 Finch - Say Hello To Sunshine - I love what Finch did by changing their sound...I just hope they can stick together

33 Shout Out Louds - Howl Howl Gaff Gaff - Solid pop rock album. If they experimented more they could've been this year's Arcade Fire

34 White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan - Big disapointment....Trying too hard to experiment...Some good songs....Mostly just boring

35 Kanye West - Late Registration - Enough with the stupid fucking skits and filler tracks. Lets make an album with 12 solid tracks....

36 He Is Legend - I Am Hollywood - A few great tracks...too cheesy in the middle of the album, starts to sound like 80s butt rock

37 Steel Train - Twilight Tales From The Prairies Of The Sun - A nice relaxing album from Steel Train

38 The Lovemakers - Times Of Romance - So cheesy 80s it just makes you want to dance

39 Emanuel - Soundtrack To A Headrush - Solid album....They could get way better

40 Kasabian - S/T - Sounded cool for a while....Terrible live show though.

Band Of The Year - The Mars Volta

Best New Band - Circa Survive

Best Live Shows of 2005 - Motley Crue Red White and Crue Tour, The Kills, The Mars Volta, Iron Maiden, Tera Melos, Kaiser Chiefs, Rufus Wainwright, The Fiery Furnaces, Atreyu, Taking Back Sunday, The Lovemakers, Dredg, Beck

i like volta and circa...interesting list i guess. Frances does not top Deloused. DId you see Rx Bandits live...ever? One of the best live shows I've seen in like...awhile. Gatsbys puts on a helluva show too. Same with Coheed...and Thrice(who I have yet to see, but both have notoriously good live shows).

and... by the way.... a lot of these albums came out last year, or even earlier. just because you think youre all underground and listening to them, it doesnt also mean you are right.

and he is legend is just sassy. not 80's butt rock or whatever you called them, i dont know i stopped reading after like 15.

80's butt rock is clearly turbonegro.

Haha, Scars of Tomorrow. I saw them one time with Norma Jean, Unearth, and Atreyu. They were pretty terrible.

Also, I think Alkaline Trio's 'Crimson' should be on there for the top 40.

And I'm pretty sure Fall Out Boy isn't a "new band," just their mainstream success is new.

what the f now?

Yeah...you forgot to read the title of this post.

I personally like Frances better

I've only seen Coheed and Thrice out of the bands you've mentioned. I've never thought Thrice was AMAZING live, but they're solid. Coheed is good live, but I didn't see them this time around because I needed $ anyway.

and... by the way.... a lot of these albums came out last year, or even earlier. just because you think youre all underground and listening to them, it doesnt also mean you are right.

Okay tell me which ones didn't come out in 2005 besides He Is Legend, I admit I was wrong there. I don't think I'm underground listening to any. The only bands out of those that I feel are underground are Akron/Family and Heavy Heavy Low Low.

If you stopped reading after 15 then how did you see He Is Legend on the list??

you just put the bravery on a top in the top ten. You do not get an opinon ever again. And why the fuck does everything need to be the next something? Can't you just look at it from a less influenced point of view?

oh yeah. and its not the last tuesday of the year yet.

are you trying to be a douche?

and your music taste really does blow.

how can you rag on bands for trying to be expirimental (white stripes) but proclaim your love for ambient noise?

you are a sad little bastard.

circa survive sounds like me fucking a dead cat.
fall out boy was new in 99
social d is amazing lice
from first to last? no. its gonna be brand news new album, which might suck, but they have so many fans now it is impossible to fathom them being anything but worshipped.

I'm not ragging on The White Stripes for being experimental, I'm saying their experimentation doesn't sound good to me.

What's so amazing about Social D live? the fact that they just stand there and every song sounds the same?

And have you ever seen FFTL's myspace? They have a rabid fanbase.

You forgot to tell me which albums didn't come out this year.
