hey whats up weenuses? Coheed and Thrice didn't make the cut because I haven't listened to them enough yet. So don't cry. And no, Cartel, Augustana, Valencia etc etc aren't on my list.
The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute - Best CD in years...I don't care how many people say they're "wankerish" or that their cd is "half ambient noises" anyone that plays an instrument should respect this band
Circa Survive - Juturna - finally another amazing cd out of this genre, right up there with Deja Entendu
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cold Roses - This was probably one of the most overlooked albums of 2005 due to Ryan Adams injury plagued tours
Death Cab For Cutie - Plans - Definitely on a lot of Top 5's this year
The Kills - No Wow - Amazing that its just two people making this music. Great live show.
Bloc Party - Silent Alarms - The next big thing out of the UK...just getting started
Akron/Family - S/T - The most amazing album nobody will ever hear
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth - Best NIN album since Closer
The Bravery - S/T - People claimed they were riding The Killers fame, but I think they have more talent musically
Between The Buried And Me - Alaska - Just amazing
Every Time I Die - Gutter Phenomenon - When you don't really pay attention it seems like just another cd, but when you actually listen to the whole thing you realize these guys are going to keep setting new standards for their genre.
LCD Soundsystem - S/T - Best album to dance and party to of 2005
Armor For Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead - seemed like the next Deja Entendu when I first listened....not quite there, but definitely has the potential
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Howl - It's perfect how they released two garage/rock albums then a folk/gospel album
The Juan MacLean - Less Than Human - He's wasting his time taking shots at Daft Punk when he could be making more tracks...the few standout tracks make this album huge, but the filler brings down the album...Could have been Top 10
Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze - Nothing amazing here, but definitely a solid rock album, these guys should open for Cream on a reunion tour.
Part Chimp - I Am Come - Just dirty hard rock
HeavyHeavyLowLow - Fuck It...EP - One of the best unsigned bands with huge potential if they can get their live act together
!!! - Take Ecstacy With Me/Get Up Single - Best Single of 2005, two covers, both done excellently
Team Sleep - S/T - The album sounding like a compilation decreases the greatness of the album has a whole, but has a few amazing songs on it
Beck - Guero - Almost as good as Odelay...almost
The Bled - Found In The Flood - The time signatures are getting crazier....but The Bled are trying to become more accessible....I say pick a road and go with it....The two styles clash way too much...The softer songs become too repetitive and lack substance, but the faster harder songs make the album
Gorillaz - Demon Days - Bad replay quality, but good pop dance album
Oasis - Dont Believe The Truth - If only these guys didn't lift their riffs from 60s/70s/80s bands...
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit - Better than Something Corporate's latest efforts....This is what North should've sounded like
Darkest Hour - Undoing Ruin - These guys could be metal gods if they tried to step out of the box a little
The Black Dahlia Murder - Masma - One solid album
Daft Punk - Human After All - Juan Maclean shows them up this year....leaving much to be desired from their next album. Too much "filler" not enough quality tracks...but still good...its Daft Punk man
Norma Jean - O God The Aftermath - Of course without that 11 minute song this CD wouldn't be that great
Kaiser Chiefs - Employment - All the songs start to sound the same after a while...A few good standout tracks though
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn - The only Bright Eyes album I like
Finch - Say Hello To Sunshine - I love what Finch did by changing their sound...I just hope they can stick together
Shout Out Louds - Howl Howl Gaff Gaff - Solid pop rock album. If they experimented more they could've been this year's Arcade Fire
White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan - Big disapointment....Trying too hard to experiment...Some good songs....Mostly just boring
Kanye West - Late Registration - Enough with the stupid fucking skits and filler tracks. Lets make an album with 12 solid tracks....
He Is Legend - I Am Hollywood - A few great tracks...too cheesy in the middle of the album, starts to sound like 80s butt rock
Steel Train - Twilight Tales From The Prairies Of The Sun - A nice relaxing album from Steel Train
The Lovemakers - Times Of Romance - So cheesy 80s it just makes you want to dance
Emanuel - Soundtrack To A Headrush - Solid album....They could get way better
Kasabian - S/T - Sounded cool for a while....Terrible live show though.
Band Of The Year - The Mars Volta
Best New Band - Circa Survive
Best Live Shows of 2005 - Motley Crue Red White and Crue Tour, The Kills, The Mars Volta, Iron Maiden, Tera Melos, Kaiser Chiefs, Rufus Wainwright, The Fiery Furnaces, Atreyu, Taking Back Sunday, The Lovemakers, Dredg, Beck
Biggest Disapointment of 2005 - Weezer
Worst New Band - Fall Out Boy
Worst Live Shows of 2005 - Weezer, The Used, H20, The Juan Maclean, Billy Idol, HeavyHeavyLowLow, Mark Gardener, Foo Fighters, Social Distortion, Kasabian, Vendetta Red, Reeve Oliver, Otep, Scars Of Tomorrow, Pinback, Hot Hot Heat
Next huge band like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance: From First To Last
Anything you think I forgot?
