You think so? I think if they gave System Shock's graphics an overhaul for people who haven't played, they'd love it.

Why make this thread now? People will only forget about, it'll fall off the main page, and then when someone discovers new news, they'll make another thread. We'll have 5 Bioshock 2 (The Official Thread)s by the time the game is released.

This is one of my most anticipated games ever, just because of how amazing Bioshock was.

Q4 2009. Last night at work, all everyone was talking about was BioShock. Seriously, every other minute, one person would scream, "Atlas is Fontaine!?!?!?!" at the top of their lungs. If you want a ballsy statement, BioShock is one of the greatest games ever, and I am sure this half prequel half sequel will be fantastic.

i don't see how a sequel can diminish your love for such an amazing game. i think it's a fun take on the game to play as the original big daddy ever made, be able to walk around underwater, adopt the little sisters so they can suck adam out of the dead bodies for you. still have to play all the way through the first one and save them all once. i've only harvested them all.
ouroboros85
05/21/09, 10:21 AM
your idea of "fun" is what I like to call a gimmick and a ploy to push units
believe me, i'm not one for over commercialism and crap like that and just releasing shit to just make money, but in my opinion it hasn't gotten to that point with this. now if they happen to make a third one, i can see myself having no part of that. but i know it won't be better than the first one but it'll still be an interesting look at what might have happened later on in the story in my opinion and still worth checking out.

would be able to competently run the game? I was able to play the first one fine, but I'm not sure how the graphics improved since.

Your RAM and CPU are fine, but why in the hell are you using a 20 dollar video card? There is no excuse for that at all.
There are some fantastic cards out right now that are really cheap, and put your current card to shame. No way I would play this game with that card.

instead of just choosing to save or harvest a girl you can adopt or harvest, and if you adopt they lead you to dead bodies and you have to protect them as they extract adam, but you get the adam that she extracts. then you have to take her to a vent. and every time you take her to a vent a big sister will come after you. and i feel as if the big sisters are a lot harder than big daddy so its definitely something to be ready for. and of course you have the drill. it needs fuel to spin around but you can always use it as a nice melee weapon. i also just learned how to do that famous big daddy drill charge. and its definitely sweet. so far it seems that i get a lot more adam quicker as a big daddy.

Yeah its definitely something you have to prepare for. You can pick her up, but I would max out on eve and health first. Your rivet gun has trap ammo so I usually surround her by that so if the splicers come close they will set off and I will now. Each action has consequences that follow and I like that aspect a lot. And the story so far has me really intrigued. If your on the fence, id say just buy it.

I agree, and the fucking splicers come from every which way, making your ammo levels immediately deplete. I can not get enough of the carnage of the fully wonderful upgraded drill.

The only thing I find annoying is kind of a flaw in those boss battles. I know that if I die, theres a Vita Chamber waiting for me, and the big sister coming back with the same amount of health she had left when I did. So i'm not going to waste my health when I know shell come back the way I left her.

Yeah their is just a lot of more of everything in this one. Even if you do one gather per little sister you'll be fine ADAM and plasmid wise.

It's annoying that you have to wait for the Big Sister to scream 4 times before she re-appears if you die fighting her. Which I don't see how you can avoid not dying when playing on Hard. She 2 hits you. Hard mode is way more challenging then in the first. Splicers revolvers 3 hit you most of the time. Ammo/money can become a huge hassle also.

I find this obnoxious too. The Big Sisters move at like a rabbit's agility and the screaming is always soooo loud compared to the rest of the volume. I think the Big Sisters are my least favorite part of the game so far. I haven't played too much of the Single Player yet, I am having so much fun playing Multi, but I am going to work over the weekend before the spoilers start dropping about the ending. Yeah, but the only issue I have is if you die, you come back with the same amount of damage done to all the splicers you were fighting. At some points I don't see any reason to heal myself.

I'll co-sign with that. But I'm not complaining. I'm usually terrible at shooters, so I die a ton against the Big Sisters and some of the Big Daddies. It seems like the Normal mode caters to people like me. I can understand the disappointment though.

I can agree with you about the Big sisters being one of the worst parts of the game. But the developers had an awesome idea that they changed before the release. Originally the Big Sister was supposed to be a SINGLE person. One of the little sisters freed from the first game. And she was going to be a reoccurring enemy throughout the game, but only this particular Big Sister. Kind of like the big bad black dude from Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The first times you encounter a Big Sister it really is amazing. You fight a little, she seems impossible to beat and then runs off. I felt this really inflicted fear into being the player, and that all was lost when you actually kill her. Then its just a bunch of different Big Sisters running around.
It pisses me off how little they actually explore the Big Daddies/Big Sisters or whatever. Plus - spoilers - It's heavily implied multiple times that the Big Daddy you play as is a human person inside a suit and that you had a life before Rapture etc. I was expecting them to go into that more but they never did. That pissed me off.

Yea. Incredible game, but that was such a nice touch. Like when the girls are talking about angels and stuff I thought it was just weird for weird's sake. But they actually saw them as angels. It was so cute and innocent. Then when it switched back intermittently - amazing.

Just beat it. Loved it. I'm so into the story of Rapture. I felt like the story wasn't as gnarly as the first one with no real crazy twists.
