It really sucks to see Allisters numbers so low...They really deserve better then they get. As for PANIC! they are going to continue to sell more each week. Cartel will gain some steam once they get on a big tour, the starting line should help them. That really sucks about allister tho, they sold less then the amount of kids in my school

Correct. From what I know, it's smaller stores that put it on the shelves before they're supposed to .. and people buy it.

van_morrison
10/20/05, 04:01 PM
garbage? hahah, wow...

yeah man, i picked up that record last summer and it did nothing for me. i found it so bland and boring. i guess i just don't see the appeal in that band.

Correct. From what I know, it's smaller stores that put it on the shelves before they're supposed to .. and people buy it.

yeah i've picked up some albums over a week before they've been released at stores. it all depends on when they're shipped from the distributor. for instance, vagrant used to ship their new releases ridiculously early.

10/20/05, 04:34 PM

10/20/05, 04:35 PM
so cartel must've sold about 5-6k now. this number will shoot up with tv/radio play, as well as magazine features and of course, good tours. they deserve it.

that's weird about allister, thinking that they are one of DTR oldest bands with a big fan base and they sold so little. I think it's because there have been so many good albums out lately that they've got lost in the pack and fallen behind. I haven't seen much promo from DTR for it mind.

10/20/05, 05:28 PM
Cartel will do a hell of a lot better once the get some more publicity. The only reason I can say Panic! At the Disco is doing so well is because they're backed by Fall Out Boy and have connections with a little more notoriety than The Militia Group. So I suspect with a video perhaps and some T.V. coverage Cartel will be selling well.

The RIAA doesn't certify platinum/gold based on these numbers .. it's a completely different system. It has to do with shipped, projections, and audits. Basically, the RIAA sucks balls :P

Thats really weird that they would certify something gold of platinum before it has actually sold that number? Is there anywhere you can read more into their system or anything like that?

I'm guessing the answer is 'not much at all', but how much is the Nightmare of You album selling?

It'll be a real shame if this shit doesn't sell, but the word about the band hasn't really spread as much as I hoped it might.

whoaaa coheed sold a fucking lot.

I'd say that about Cartel, I really disliked Chroma..I don't like Allister at all for the record either..but Chroma was way over hyped in my opinion.

Chroma was fun if a bit guilty the first listen
then kinda boring the second listen
then i really wanted to stop listening the third... it's just standard pop-punk with average lyrics. Two songs of note on that album: Minstrel's Prayer and Burn This City (which is most of of A)

Panic! is selling well because a lot of kids including me, who's pretty jaded pop-punk wise, found it a poppy if weird listen the first time, familiar and fun the second time, and finally saw the depth in the music the third time: it has all sorts of tones, from condescending to ironic to playful to jaded.

When a band comes out with an album as strong as Panic!'s, word of mouth spreads. I've personally promoted them a lot. When they go major label, they're going HUGE.

I profoundly disagree. I find Panic! at the Disco to be unenergetic, by the numbers, kid friendly pap.

I don't find them deep at all. Lyrically, they're bad, and that's putting it nicely.

I'm with everyone else... no matter what the Allister album sounds like, I figured it would do better than 2,000 just off of a fanbase alone. It's good to see the Death Cab album is already at 250,000 though.

i want paramore & jack's mannequin numbers.

i am sick of seing people whine about cartel's & panic's lyrics not being deep enough or whatever. it is pop punk!! it's supposed to be fun, not songs to drastically change your life or something. panic's lyrics tell good stories, espeically towards the end of the cd. i love it. i don't know. i think both cd's are really good & they are both going to be huge.
