The Suburban Legends (http://www.suburbanlegends.com) have posted a new song on their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/suburbanlegends) page. The song, entitled "Come Back Home", was apparently Dallas Cooks favourite of all the new songs. Additionally, I would like to personally send my condolences out to Dallas' family, friends, band, and everyone else in this time of need. Dallas was an incredible musician, an amazing person, and so much more. He was a man that no complimentary words could summarize. Dallas is gone, but he will not be forgotten.

I feel terrible for the band, Dallas' family, and anybody else who knew him. Good song though, as depressing as the situation is.

All of us (the NW Indiana ska scene) loved and still do love dallas. He was one of my brothers wheneve they came out. I love and miss him to death...

its moving to see all the support people are showing, even if it is just a myspace comment, every little bit helps more than you can imagine.

god bless.

p.s. the new song is fucking amazing

This absolutely terribile. I cannot not believe that something this bad could ever happen. After reading the article on SL's website I am still not sure exactly what happened. Was he trying to go around car and hit it by or did the car hit him? When they say the car was "blocking" the carpool lane does that mean that Dallas had nowhere else to go and then hit the car? If anyone can clarify this i'd love to know. I wanna send Dallas's family and the entire Suburban Legends band the deepest condolescences.

someone should put a sticky on this, i think everyone should know about this, this guy seemed to be a fantastic guy, he was a good musician, played in a really good band, and i don't want this post to float to the bottom of this news page, i really don't think it should. it means much more than that. when any life is cut short, it's as tragic as anything. this is really incredibly upsetting news.

i wish his family and friends the best and hope they find the person who left the scene of the crime and persecute him to the fullest extent - while this won't bring someone back to life, it'll give some resolution, but the fact still stands, the best of people die young, and it's a terrible, horrible premise.

he's up in ska heaven right now, rockin the bone.

In case anyone is lost, the "carpool lane" in question on the 55 is one lane, nearest to the median. It's reserved for vehicles with at least two passengers and motorcycles, depending on the area. If a car was blocking it, it means that the vehicle was at least partially in the lane since there's about 6 inches or so on the left side of the lane and maybe a foot between the carpool lane and the regular lanes of traffic.

As sad as it is to think about this, Dallas likely had no way of avoiding contact with the vehicle blocking his path.

It is crazy I just saw these guys back in April before Aaron left, before Tim left, and before this happened. I'm glad I saw these guys before everything turned out the way it did but I am also amazed that these guys are still a band through the thick and thin. I mean...band members have left, they didn't have a place to live for what seemed like a few months, they swapped lead singers, and they also lost one hell of a trombone player who put on a damn good live show. I don't know what else to say. Dallas will definitely be missed.

I've known Ryan (Dallas) since he was 16 years old. He was a quiet and humble person. His bandmates, former and current, are all very broken up about this. It's very tragic that such a bright future ended so early. I urge everyone to stop and smell the roses once in awhile.

I know this may be a little stupid but AP...do you guys think maybe we (as a community) set up some kind of anything for this? What color was he in the band? (Back in the old days they all signed cds and stuff in different colors that matched their shirts) Maybe we could all wear ribbons or something. This still is hitting me very hard because I've seen them 7+ times and he was always willing to just talk to fans. I really just want to do ANYTHING...RIP Dallas...everyone has prayers for you, family and friends

PS...posted on Myspace...think it would be cool for people to go..."We'd like to have a gathering in the same spot where so many fans made long lasting memorils. Dallas Cook was a sweetheart. Join us with candles, flowers, and memories on Sunday night in honor of him no longer being with us to spread that sweetness. Around 8 pm, by the ESPN Zone, where they played that first summer."

It's always so sad when stuff like this happens. This guy was doing what he loved and that all went away so quickly.

May he rest in peace.
