My frail attempt at poetry... I haven't written a poem in a LONG while. Figured I should throw a shot out there just to see. I just wrote it a moment ago while doing someone's taxes lol.


Fuck Me Sideways

Break forward with every thought
And every waking breath you take
All possession leads to this
Abstract fear of being fake
Devastation reeks indifference
Upon the pawns left in your wake
They hide in depths with all intention
Of stealing away hard earned fame

Suffer sorrows of tomorrow
Endure trials that stand today
Remembering to hold to your virtues
Forgive yourself for your mistakes
For they will never forget folly
And stand by with your crowns of thorns
Who are they that deem you worthy?
The same who lose site of their sores

A million ways they'll find to hate you
Self righteous views or envied dreams
Press on the paths of your salvation
Do not tread their tracks of weeds
Be wary of the good intentions
As cruel they become at your dawn
Then face the morning, almost certain
To cause your fall and tear your heart

Watch your back
No one else will
They'll fuck you sideways
And steal your sails

This was actually not bad. I really like the line "Devastation reeks indifference," but I think you mean "wreaks." I think the rhythm you establish here is pretty natural, I don't feel it being forced in any one spot. I do think that you might want to consider keeping the rhyme-scheme you have in the first stanza throughout, because it was pretty well managed there. It sort of fell apart and made the poem lose a little cohesion. The third stanza is the weakest, I think, because some of the grammar is a little off. The first line reads better as "They'll find a million ways to hate you" and "As cruel they become at your dawn" is just awkwardly phrased. I also like the line "Do not tread their tracks of weeds."

As much as I like the last stanza for the title line (which made me laugh), I think it's an out of place stanza, and not really necessary for the piece to work. Especially because it's so short and does not keep with the predominate form.

made some changes... hope it fixes it. yea i know th last stanza isn't quite the same lol but when I was was naming it, that phrase was stuck in my head so I added the last stanza. but the rhyme scheme is A-B-C-B (i guess) all the way thru with each line having 7-9 points or syllables or whatever... so can you clarify wats wrong with the rhyme scheme?
