First show was last night, and here's the set:

Closer to the Truth
# 1 Summer Jam
Maybe Its Just Me
Ponce de Leon
Ships
Race Cars
So At Last
Vessels
Don't Move
Here Comes The...
Weight of Her
Far Away From Close
Laid and Taste of Red
Tiny Dancer
Uncomfortably Numb
Hot Girls in Good Moods
Best Thing
Canyons

He says he's gonna be mixing up the list all tour long, but that list looks good to me. Very Letters heavy. No Marvelous 3 songs, but oh well, gotta give up the ghost at some point.

Check him out if you're on the east coast, he has tons of dates announced.

I'd love to see Butch live. Everyone is raving about him right now- I think he will gain a lot of popularity this year

BUTCH WALKER WAS AMAZING.

Go to this tour if it comes near you, you won't be disappointed.

There was only one opening band "The Films", who played pretty good... but BUTCH WALKER killed it. I had no idea he was that good live and. Wow I'm still pumped.

He played a lot of songs, many from Sycamore Meadows and some from other albums. He said he would be an asshole if he didn't play Mixtape at the Mixtape Venue (I heard it was named after the song.)

Okay I'm really tired.. I'm going to bed. Quote me if you have any questions.

Haha.. I had tears during a lot of it, but I wasn't bawling or anything.

He didn't play Summer Scarves as far as I remember. But if he's switching up the set list he might put it in.

No I didn't take any pictures, but many many people were taking pictures and video, a lot during the part he walked into the crowd (1 foot from me) and sang. Then he told the crowd around him to get on the ground (including me) and we did, then he was the only standing person in this whole part of the crowd. The guy is amazing. Find a video of that on youtube or something, it was fantastic.

Caught him in Detroit on Friday and Grand Rapids last night. Last night was fucking great. I was front row and center and it was probably one of the best nights of my life. Got a guitar pick too. Setlist last night was something like this:

ATL
Passed Your Place
Going Back/Going Home
Closer to the Truth
Uncomfortably Numb
The Weight of Her
Vessels
Laid/Taste of Red
Don't Move
Here Comes The...
Far Away From Close
Ponce De Leon
Race Cars
Maybe It's Just Me
Summer Jam
Best Thing

Tiny Dancer
Mixtape
Hot Girls
Canyons

bummed I didn't hear the rest of Sycamore Meadows (3 Kids, Ships, Scarves, Metalheads), but it was a fucking amazing show anyway.

I wish he'd kept So At Last in the list. Alicia Amnesia has been written down on his list at shows, but he hasn't been playing it.

I'm glad you guys are getting out and seeing him, sounds like you've been enjoying it.

If you leave before the end of the show, you will hate yourself. Best Thing You Never Had and Canyons are two of his best live songs. I've seen Best Thing done more times than I can count, and it still blows me away.

Seriously, I hope you stay for this.

Far Away was on the list but wasn't played.

Here are some shitty cell phone camera pics.

Boston's show was awesome. He absolutely was incredible, I brought 3 people who never heard of him, and they are huge fans now.

He never disappoints.
To add on set list - at the sound check he played
Summer Scarvs
and Taste of Red

Can't wait to see him in Providence.

Also, really wasn't a fan of the opening band, the Films. =/

Did you win passes for the soundcheck / meet and greet for being one of the first people to buy the pre-sale tickets? I bought mine 2 minutes after they went on sale and didn't win, I was bummed.

I wasn't a real big fan of the Films either. They were decent but they seemed like they didn't really even care.

Yeh, It was pretty cool and funny. They actually told us there was suppose to be a suprise guest before the films. I think his name is Jesus Bird or something, its some crazed youtube song with the band/rappers or whatever being from mass. (I've never heard of it). But they were suppose to come and play with Butch's band before the Films went on. Maybe that's why the Films went on really late. But I guess they didn't show up.

I was pretty bummed too because they didn't let us know that we won the passes till last week, and I bought them right when they went on sale.

Providence should be a good show too, Butch said he's never been/played there.

Tonight at the 9:30 Club in D.C. was basically a religious experience. No big surprises in the setlist. First 3 songs he performed solo at the piano:

ATL
Cigarette Lighter Love Song
Passed Your Place, Saw Your Car, Thought of You
----------
Going Back/Going Home
Closer to the Truth and Further from the Sky
Uncomfortably Numb
The Weight of Her
Vessels
Laid/The Taste of Red
Don't Move
Ships in a Bottle
Here Comes the...
Ponce de Leon Ave.
Race Cars and Goth Rock
Maybe It's Just Me
#1 Summer Jam
Best Thing You Never Had
----------
Tiny Dancer
Hot Girls in Good Moods
When Canyons Ruled the World (w/ The Frames)

The inclusion of "Cigarette Lighter Love Song" was cool, but I honestly would have rather seen "Joan." So creepy and brilliant. I didn't think he could top the intensity of "Hot Girls in Good Moods," but "When Canyons Ruled the World" was even better.

Ridiculously awesome live show. I've never seen that kind of crowd participation at a concert. Even if you've never heard a single Butch Walker song in your life, believe me when I say you will not regret going to this. I dragged along my sister and her boyfriend, neither of which had heard any Butch before, and they are now believers.

CLLS > Joan

Joan is arguably my least favorite Butch song, ever. He always used to play it right in the middle of his sets and it totally killed the mood.

I can see how that song would kill the mood in the middle of the set, but it's definitely among my favorite Butch songs. While he was doing all the solo/piano stuff, the mood was right.
