myspace free for 9 months...
but check out my bands page (haha)
yea, it's a great marketing/publicity tool for bands and companies, but it's gotten out of control now with kids as young as 12 joining, and putting pictures up in bikinis because thats what they think they need to do. also, seeing 34 year old dudes hitting on 16 year old girls isnt my idea of a great time. i honestly think some kids forgot what life used to be without myspace, for example... meeting new people in person.

yeah, I don't understand how people get addicted to myspace. It's a bitch to log on to. Then you just sit there and wait for people to reply to pictures you post of yourself or bullitens you post. It's by far the dumbest thing ever invented. I'd rather meet people in person. Does anyone remember when people actually used to talk outside of the internet. Now with new technology everyone tries to avoid confrontations with strangers. All you have to do is plug your ears with your ipod headphones and stare at your phone as you're walking past people and then you never have to make eye contact. Myspace is pretty much the same thing only you're whoring your self out to others on the internet.
I just rambled but I literally have a hatred for websites like myspace. (the ipod scenario was thrown in there to prove a point).
plus myspace listens to shitty music. 'nuff said.
OH SWEET a meet and greet with a band no one's ever heard of!

hahaha. i thought the same exact thing.
the corporate machine pumping out new bands for everyone to hear and like... "oh i can get a meet and greet this band? this band must be huge! they'll be on TRL!! lol!!11"
forget the 'old fashoined' idea of Fans getting a hard working band huge...
i hate the buisness of music :)

I'd like to see how long Myspace stays free before they decide to capitalize on the huge die-hard member base they have. I don't like Myspace... it seems quite disorganized compared to Facebook and not as blog-friendly as Xanga or LJ.

It will always stay free, they make a killing off of ad revenue. It is quite disheartening that after NewsCorp (a subsidary of Rupert Murdoch's Fox News Channel) bought it for billions of dollars, bands that consider themselves "punk" are helping produce ad revenue for such an evil company. I find it kind of scary actually, because a lot of these kids, and the bands really, have no clue that they are making money for a company that is probably responsible for why their friends are still in Iraq, why our country has such a huge deficit (amont a million other things), with millions of Americans supporting it. They are feeding the propagandha machine by looking at scene kid's new haircut that he took in the bathroom mirror.

I agree with you....i had a kid ask..."my mom is dying and im super bummed right now, i cant even breath....can you whore me out to your 80K friends"...........i was fuckin shocked. This was over the phone tho, and the inflection of his voice went from crying, to immense excitement about getting whored out. Needless to say, i felt horrible, got off the phone, didnt whore him because i was a little disgusted. Its amazing how priorities can be lost because of a website. I admit, its an amazing marketing tool for my band, and other bands and companies however it can get a little to much sometimes.
