This is a long running game on a movie forum I go to, so I thought I'd give it a try here. Basically, you post a topic for a top 5, then the next poster gives their answers, followed by another top 5 topic. BE AS CREATIVE AS YOU WANT, and this can get pretty entertaining.
I'll start with a simple one to give an example:
Top 5 Films of 2008
(1) WALL-E
(2) Rachel Getting Married
(3) The Wrestler
(4) Slumdog Millionaire
(5) Synecdoche, New York
I hope this catches on.

Well it's hard to limit Tom Hanks' career to 5 or 6. I know those 2 should be on there, but those 6 have a special place in my heart even if the other 2 are considered better by most. At lest I didn't put The Da Vinci Code.

I think I liked it so much because it's pretty much all about airships and adventuring, so it felt like a movie version of an SNES Final Fantasy game. Calling a movie that is pretty much the gold standard of movie compliments for me. I could definitely see calling it slow, but it hit my movie niche right in the perfect spot. Miyazaki rules at that.
I want Ponyo right now. It annoys me that we always have long waits on his movies, and I can't believe they don't even have a date set for the US release. It's playing in France while I'm there, but I don't think I could handle crossing two language barriers to watch it, no matter how excited I am for it.

You need to watch Fear and Loathing and more Depp roles. Or well, at least I'm assuming you haven't, because a list with all 3 Pirates movies makes me want to cry.
I've seen them all, I'm just a sucker for big budget adventure movies like the Pirates series, no matter how watered down they may be.

You don't need to watch them in any order. If you know the characters, watching the show over isn't necessary at all. Tenchi Forever was pretty good. It's really slow but the animation is entirely different from the rest of the series and it its great. In Love is really cool because you get to see a lot more of his history and a lot actually happens. I also hated Tenchi in Tokyo when I originally watched it but after getting the DVD's, it is now my favorite. Weird how that turned out.

Well of course "should be" is a personal opinion. And I think you're right to post favorites over the so called "best"...thats what I did for mine.
As for Chinatown, I don't think its a bad movie, I just think there are other noir films that are better. I do accept the fact that it is highly regarded by many people. I just think with the other noir films out there, this wouldn't make my top 5, but would be in the top 10.

That was really hard, and I went with the movies that make me laugh the hardest and most consistently. Hard cuts were Dumb and Dumber and Mallrats.
