what a beautiful, courageous, and inspirational woman.
Its crazy sometimes to think that around 40 years ago, that this was how things really were in the US.
Actual laws enforced this racist bullshit.
R. I. P. Rosa Parks
and thank you for standing up and showing us what one person can do/change/start.

you are just lowering your self to that persons level, so just let him/her say whatever, get banned, and move on.

many people dont know this, but she was actually chosen by the civil rights movement to make her stand. it wasnt just a random act of defiance.

last fall her landlord tried to evict her and a bunch of people complained, that was when i realized she was still alive (at 93). It might have been the NAACP. Speaking of, shouldn't they change their name by now? Colored peoples? It can't really be the NAAAA (N quadruple A) but come on, colored just isnt a word to describe people anymore

That's a pretty weird point I never thought of.
I suggest people read the article that is linked, it's real interesting.

Rosa Parks was a truly inspiring woman. RIP. Just take a moment to think about all that the civil rights movement has done for you. Even if you're white, music charts were once segregated and white people were expected to listen to folk music, while black people were only considered "vulgar" enough to listen to blues and later, rock. If not for those pioneers, this website might have never existed.

First, let me say: RIP.
Secondly.
You're act like she was some kind of saint or something, she was chosen to do this, it was all planned out, don't you see that? They didn't even try to hide it, but people never the less bought into it and her being a saint. And it's not like she were the first one to do it anyways, people did it before, but this is the most famous one because of all the planning.
So you could sort of say it was a conspiracy, in the true sense of the word..
Remember: RIP.

I definitely agree that she was an important figure. Did anyone else see barbershop.... Where the old guy said something like... "Rosa Parks ain't no hero, all she did was sit her ass down." I thought that was funny, and true. Then she sued Outkast, not cool. RIP

I actually learned that this year, which is kind of strange because you basically learn everything about her when you're younger except that little fact. She was a secretary for the NAACP and was chosen and supported by the organization. It's interesting that they always just refer to her as a "tired seamstress" and don't mention the rest. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that what she did wasn't important or that she isn't worthy of the attention she got. I think it's just interesting no one learns about that part of the story.

you're taught a lot of things when you are little that you are supposed to believe and live by....then as you get older you find those things are really streched truths and you learn the real ways.
i know that sounds corney but think about it. they want everyone to believe history and society was perfect from the begining and there was no problems. i mean even learning about wars, we dont learn the "evil" parts of them we just learn about the "heroes"

Despite the fact she may have been chosen to 'carry out a mission'. I believe it took alot for a black person in that day to stand up to any kind of authority. Especially since she was a black WOMAN. She did something everyone feared and afterward revered her for. She might have been 'chosen' but her actions that she CHOSE to do started a movement that in many different ways changed the face of civil rights in our country.
She was an amazing woman. Not to say better than any other person, but she still had guts. And I believe she deserves the media she is getting.
Thanks to Rosa for being brave and helping her entire race to move closer to equality.
Rest in Peace.
