Any playlist of unsigned bands needs to have You, Me, and Everyone We Know. Essential.

lol yea no prob. but what made you want to do this playlist?
i found this podcast on the Alt Press site that showcased ONLY unsigned bands...
the name was AP&R i beleive?
anyway, some of these bands i discovered through there, others by clicking on the friends of the bands on the podcast...
and i LOVE making playlists so it seemed like a cool theme to have only underground artists...

haha I take it you don't enjoy my music choices?
and some of these have alot of hope... the guy who recorded FTSK's EP did The Hit's debut EP...
maybe their just new to the scene and trying to build a name for themselves?
i think some of these artists may have been signed from the last time i checked

haha I def plan on doing that... i think this is the first playlist I've made that i am truly proud of... lol
and i think alot of these bands will go onto bigger things. especially since more than a few follow the synth-pop trend thats very popular right now... lol
what are your favorite tracks from the list?

Drugs is an awesome song

If you're looking for some more, I'd check out "Confetti" by Dropout Year, "You're Everyone I Know Right Now" by the Lives of Famous Men, "With All the Right Intentions" by The Crosstown Rivalry, "Keep it Going" by With the Punches, and "The Wedding" by That Was Something. They're all either pop rock or pop punk bands.

I also second that You, Me, and Everyone We Know needs to be on this playlist.

hot n cold cover
this is not a threat
are some of my faves from the list, but i do like dance with me and drugs is alright but it's not my favorite, but i'm not really a screamo fan but that hot n cold cover was amazing, and compromised was awesome. i really like your list :D
oh and i have some more recommendations: this century with "No way out", and almost gold with either "better than this" or "i know it too well"

npmshah
03/10/09, 06:39 PM
so i took the advice and added some more artists from the limited selection of unsigned artists i own...

haha i was blown away by the Hot n Cold cover as well... it should've made Punk Goes Pop 2 lol...
my personal fav on the playlist is Elisabeth by The Sophomore Attempt, but from the "original" i loved the Tearin Up My Heart cover the most...
Wait is an AMAZING song, love the synth line in the beginning, and then the whole band comes in (<3)
seven story fall shows tons of promise, even though theyre not the most catchy band on the list, they def show alot of skill and tons of untapped potential...
im very diverse in my tastes, and am open to everything from hardcore rap and "crunkcore" to really crazy death metal... ha

lol yea those were some good songs on there, and that hot n cold cover definitely should have made the Punk Goes Pop 2 album. and i too am open to all different genres of music but screamo and metal and hardcore just are too much for me, although i do like disturbed. i guess it kind of depends on the song or artist lol

i can't really get into disturbed despite the fact that i have tried force feeding myself them for ages... lol
i wouldn't really classify them as hardcore or screamo in any sense though, more like hard rock...
i am slowly working my way down my list of underground bands to look up... i am currently at Sparks The Rescue, and they are quite good actually :-O

Holiday Parade is signed, and so is Sophomore Attempt.

Gary Pfaff is pretty good.
Uncle Outrage, in my opinion, is better than MSI
I'm not sure if you would consider DJs signed. If not, you can look up "LEgion of Doom" "Party Ben" "Team 9" and "THeUnforgettableSound"

I would second adding The Wedding, except that I'm fairly sure when I saw That Was Something in December, they said that was their first album since being signed. And my CD says Oort on it, and I think that's a label.

okay okay so i've checked them out and there's mixed feelings. i like them but then i don't really. it's sort of like they switch up with those screamo tendencies you've mentioned which turns me off, but i do like their songs, "my heart radio" and "autumn" which i guess are some of their newer songs.

oh and i'm not sure if you know but it says that they've just been signed to fearless records i believe, so that means you can't put them on the playlist which sucks :( but atleast they're off to bigger things and they're hoping to record their full length LP soon

oooh i hadn't known that, i just checked them out on purevolume and they had put a blog up about them recently being signed, i guess i'm a little late on that one

and i listened to settings i like their song, "walk away" but other than that i'm not really feeling them, no offense, don't get me wrong they are good but like its nothing new really to me atleast.

ooo i have a band for you to check out, the smyrk, they aren't my favorite but the lead singer has such a unique voice that isn't like most bands you hear which is something i like about them :)

also if you like hip hop stuff you should listen to chae hawk: http://www.myspace.com/chaehawk or the stellar dexterz: http://www.myspace.com/stellardexterz . they're not like your typical mainstream stuff which is refreshing and they really have promise i think.

its ok, i will admit settings is slightly generic, but its still amazing that theyve won the Ernie Ball BOTB two years in a row... hmm... the smyrk arent that bad... i am really open to most music, and i thought those rappers werent half bad! alot of these bands have shows near me coming up... and yea the smyrk is pretty good i really just love the lead singers voice, it's so different which really makes me like them, and i just found out that they put like all of their songs up for download :D i'm not sure if its on their myspace but i got them off of their purevolume account, so if you're really interested in them you could download their stuff their. and thats how i also found out about stellar dexterz and chae hawk, they had messaged me on purevolume and was like check me out, and i don't regret that at all lol

and you are sooooo lucky they have concerts playing close to where you live, cause i don't really get a lot of my favorite bands to play near me which sucks

alot of bands have stuff on itunes as an unsigned act... it means nothing since its not that hard to get stuff on there... and Hot Topic distributing stuff doesnt mean a label is backing them
