I'll agree with all of that except the last part. FUCT may not have been as good as TTTYG, but it was far from a pile of shit. It was still a great album.
oh, and Jacksangryson, you like avenged sevenfold. you probably shouldn't go around calling a band terrible when you openly admit to liking one so godawful as ax7.

It's hard to tell what he's saying sometimes, which usually sucks with a band, but he does it in a way thats pretty cool. Especially on TTTYG. Also, FOB is fun to sing outloud in public.
I'm pretty tired of the new cd, and I was like 2 weeks after I heard it.

All in all. Just a terrible band. No originality at all. Every song sounds the same. And the lyrics are faaaar too dramatic. And Stump is an awful singer.

I think there are more kids on this site that are happy to put shit on FOB as opposed to singing their graces. I dare say this is due to their rise in popularity. I think people think its 'scene' to write them off at the moment. I like FOB, in fact i still listen to FUCT. I think its a great album. I am gonna stand up for them here and say i disagree with all the haters out there. The reasons people are providing to show their proof of why they suck are completely generic and provide no real insight at all. Please do not use originality, crap voice or every song sounds the same as your reasoning for your posts lack originality and every post looks the same (striking similarity). All these arguments are easily countered and any understanding person would see reason. I understand if people don't like a band, that's cool but completely putting shit on bands without much reason is not only for frustrating to read for fans but annoying for people who are trying to see your point of view. If you look at the rules of the 'trash talk' thread its says shit that you have to say why you don't like something. I think the use of generic answers do not negate this rule. Help me understand why they are a pile shit, then maybe i can see what you mean.

FUCT is far from "a pile of shit" but I think TTTYG is catchier/stays in my CD player longer...I agree with DaveHallow, it seems like it's just the in thing to do to trash FOB as much as it is in to love them. I also admit that Patrick isn't always "on" when live, but vocalists who're perfect every show are kind of rare. If you've seen the ripped clips, he sounds amazing on the joy division cover and pretty good on gin joints. Plus I'm a fan of the way Pete writes, not just on songs, but in general.

Musically, the band is pretty bland.
They utilize the same approach when it comes to writing songs time and time again.
Chunky powerchords, a simple lead-based melody over the top of said powerchords, overly dramatic lyrics to the point of them seeming contrived. Also coupled with the fact that they play a generally 'safe' and boring brand of music...I really can't see the appeal outside of one or two listens when it comes on the radio or something.

what's wrong with them? God so awful reincarnated, reluctantly mimicking the past, axel rose whateva. Solos are sweet but its not for everyone. All these different ears, u like pop/punk then shoot go for pop punk. But me metal all the way since it shows its brute strength and is known for barbaric triumphant victory strides

i think they are catchy and their lyrics are so clever... i know i could never think of the shit that they write about! they are all around great guys and not into drugs. its all a matter of personal interest as to whether or not you like fob, and just because you do like them doesnt make you a dumbass to all of you fob haters out there - cuz i know there are lots!

I really liked TTTYG. I was at the release show for it in Chicago in 2003. However, I lost respect for them when my band opened for them a couple years ago, and they were total assholes. Pete was really cool. He came up and talked to us for a while. But the other 3 were pricks. Ah well, it's just cool to say that my band opened for a Grammy nominated band. It gets me chicks.... or not.

Fall out boy is verrry catchy, music is simple, but sounds good. And the lyrics are amzing. Vocals are decent to pretty good. I love them though...
Yes they are BIG, but that really shouldn't change YOUR opinion on them, yes it is annoying to see your little sister, and people who really have no business listening to that type of music listen to them, but it really should not change the way you view them.

most people who have talked shit about them have probably only heard their songs on the radio for like 10 seconds and decided to hate them.
a) the songs they have out are good
b)if they even took the time to listen to their other songs they'd see how good they actually are, they write good songs.
so if you hate them, prove exactly why they suck. if you cant, stop trying to be "scene"

You're beginning to sound like a disgruntled fan that liked Fall Out Boy or Panic! before all the "tennyboppers" did, and can't stand the fact that they're getting what they want. Money and popularity.
I'm probably the only person that likes FUCT better than TTTYG, but I doubt it.
TTTYG has like to 2 filler songs on there, including that Taking Back Sunday rip-off.
While FUCT is just amazing throughout.

TBS may be better than FOB. But FOB is still a good band, IMO.

I don't like the fact that these 2 bands are both now all over mtv and every fucking kid in america listens to them. But oh well. Exactly! I love EOWYG and TTTYG but I don't much care for FUCT... but I still support them. FUCT lacked the energy that was on the other two albums.

The fact they blew up to become so mainstream..is suckass, i feel put-off by it..though TTTYG is brilliant and i like the EP too, strange how i manged to lusten to FUCT all summer now it seems a chore to listen too..friends still seem to big it up(though they think they'll become 'emo' if they listen to it...bigger the fools them)

Haha, all their new fans go absolutley crazy over them, their seriously the new 'good charlotte' i mean, i think we all remember when Good Charlotte was the coolest band for everyone on mtv.
anyways, being a long time fan of Fall Out Boy, i appreciate their music, and their incredibly nice guys. However, from under the cork tree did have some great lyrics, but, i feel as if it wasnt them making that cd. It was the record label.

And as for FOB, yeah a lot of people like them, and if you're a fan and have doubts in them being "mainstream", they are a fad band and soon the madness will be over. Just be glad you don't like them because you were jumping on the bandwagon, and liked the music vs. it being the "cool" thing to like them. As far as music goes there are worse bands then FOB.

Like I said, I prefer FUCT too. I have an emotional attachment towards that album, and the way its produced is better than the slightly jarring qualities of TTYG. But I do have to admit that there are some songs on TTYG that are better than anything on FUCT.
But its all a matter of different taste in the end.
I don't hate on them because they're big. I hate on them because they play crappy music.
I think someone already said that ealier in this thread...

I think when a bad gets soo overplayed like they have, it starts to sound like really "bad" for everyone.
The same shit happened to me with MCR, I like them in their first CD, after they go "famous", to call it that way, they started to suck and I send them to hell. There is the other way around now, I didn't know FOB until an American friend of mine, told me about them and I hear one song, and they were amazing to me, like 3months later, they are all over the fucking world. T_T
I like them, but I loved them not so long ago, now...it is just like "it's ok".

Indeed. I've gotten used to FUCT, and I like about 7-8 songs on it, but I still prefer TTTYG.

His live vocals have been improving a LOT lately, in all fairness. And sure, Will is fucking great live, but he also doesn't play while he's singing (at least for the most part), while Patrick does for the entire show.
