Kaddisfly's Trailer Stolen

Portland band Kaddisfly (http://www.kaddisfly.com) recently had their trailer, along with everything inside, stolen. Items inside that were stolen include merch, the band's clothes, musical equipment, EVERYTHING. The loss totaled roughly $40,000. They have set up a paypal account under kflykile@hotmail.com if you'd like to help them out..

Obviously theives have picked up on the growing scene we have and how much expensive shit that bands carry around. Pretty much sucks, but bands must start spendig the extra money to insure and secure their shit if they dont already.

In comparison to $40,000, the cost of a steering wheel lock or maybe one of those wheel clamps is super-small.

I would totally feel bad for Kaddisfly, but this is COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE.

A trailer carrying $40K worth of gear is pretty big - unless you're carrying it around in the equivalent of a Hefty bag with wheels, this shouldn't happen.

thats not my point, you fool. i never mentioned that they stole just the van. I never mentioned the van at all, actually. I mentioned the use of a wheel clamp which could be used on the trailer wheel.

it totally sucks but, yeah, it can be prevented. buy a boot for the trailer and a club for the van. don't stay at motels. unload your gear into your practice space without fail, regardless of how late you get home. when my old band played shows in other states and we stayed with friends, we asked one of them to park us in so not only couldn't people move the van/trailer without first stealing our friend's car, they couldn't open the trailer door to take stuff that way either. leaving a van loaded with gear parked in an even remotely unsecure way/place is the dumbest thing you can possibly do as a member of a band.

if the shit still gets stolen, news flashs dudes, just because you're in a rock band doesn't mean you can't be smart and insure your gear. my insurance covers up to $25k worth of stolen items and it costs me $15 a month. sure it sucks to get stuff stolen but, if you have insurance, the only thing that has to be lost is the sentimental value of the equipment. at this point, with bands getting shit stolen right and left, the bands themselves are starting to be as much to blame as the robbers, simply because there are so many ways to prevent things like this from happening. don't be stupid and you won't get your gear stolen.

ya security is good thing to keep in mind. if your like me your powerbook is your most important posession. in a fire its prolly the only thing id grab. intellectual property is most of the time irreplaceable. also kids in college this is lot better and more convient than those stupid locks (that are easy to cut through by the way).

This is Beau...I play Drums in kaddisfly. I just want to say thank you too everyone who has helped us out. This is a huge set back for us and we will only grow from it and come out a stonger band. You guys are the reason we do what we do! We will get over this and be rocking sooner than you think.... And just to clear things up.... Yes we had a trailer hitch lock, yes we have insurance, but it will only cover a small portion of what was taken, this happened in broad day light in front of a Dillards Dept. Store with people walking to and from their cars, and yes they still got what they wanted....these people know what they are doing, they do it for a living. We are very cautious about our van and trailer.....someone sleeps in it every night no matter where we are, but you know what......it can still happen. Thank you to all who are concerned. We Love You all......prepare to Set Sail.......

I just wanted to say that's pretty crazy you know who Sayonara Tiger are. They are a small band from where I used to live, near Cincinnati, and I didn't think many people knew who they were. They're pretty good.
