What keeps you playing?

Have any of you ever felt like you wanted to stop playing your musical instrument? If so, what kept you playing? And if you did infact stop playing, what made you want to quit?

Hmm I've never actually wanted to quit playing guitar, but I have felt very discouraged and that I might not ever be as good as I want to be. I keep playing because music is my love and I want to be able to keep getting better.

ya i know what you mean, im getting better but im not where i want to be. but its awsome cuz it keeps me occupied.

Exactly...whenever I'm bored (which is a lot) I'll just pick up my guitar and play whatever.

Right now I'm mad because I have so many lyrics, but can't write anything good on guitar(I'm trying to do a solo thing). It's very annoying.

I'm getting an electric soon though (just need to go to a store and see which I like best) and then I might be getting a keyboard too.

if i could find something more fullfilling to do in my free time, i wouldn't play guitar so much. or spend so much money on insturments. but i haven't. starwars battlefront 2 comes out tomorrow though. hoping that game kicks some ass.

Man i think about not playin my instrument all the time and i try to go with out playin but its jsut not possible
you play your instrument cuz you love it, no other reason and if you dont then dont play it
dont make yourself quit tho like its givein you cancer
i always think im gunna quit playin but it never happens i play for hours aday
jsut do what you love and youll never be unhappy

Yeah I have been having the same problem really....but I guess you just have to keep playing.

I stopped playing the drums for a while because my basement was done over, so I dont have a place to set them up anymore. That and I started getting more into guitar, and that's all I really do right now. I wish I could set my drums up though :(

For me it is the feeling of writing something that I really like beyond words... Something that is magical, that can't be described.. When that happens.. it is amazing. It always seems to happen when the whole band is writing, though. I don't have much time to jam on my own anymore.

Whenever i get really pissed off with either guitar or piano i think of what my life would be like if I quit.

And i think that it would be pointless.
