Justin Wescott of Amber Pacific (http://www.amberpacific.com) will be leaving the band after their next tour:

Hey Amber Pacific fans,

So this is the biggest update and e-mail we have sent out since announcing ourselves to the world and getting signed to Hopeless Records. BIG NEWS!

First and foremost, we as a band wanted to tell you that Justin has decided to leave Amber Pacific. He told the band before this last Warped Tour that he was thinking about leaving the band to go back to school. But all of us, including Justin, wanted him to stick it out up until now to see where his heart led him.

As a band we wanted our fans to be the first to know. We wanted you to hear it from him and us and get some sort of opportunity to maybe see him on his last tour with us before he heads down a new path. Justin has been a huge part of our lives and Amber Pacific. He will always be a good friend. He wrote something for you to all personally read:

“There comes a time in everyone’s lives where there’s a crossroads. You can pick one or the other and you know that it is a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life. I had to do it when I chose which college to go to, when I decided to leave college and do the band full-time. For the past 5 months of my life I’ve been at this crossroads having to make a decision, and I’ve come to the point where I’ve had to make it. I’m officially announcing that I am leaving as guitarist of Amber Pacific to go back to school and pursue my life as a pastor. My heart has been fighting this decision because I have so much fun on the road and playing music for a living. I loved getting to know every single person that I’ve met over the past two years of my life. I’ve met some amazing people that I will never forget. I personally want to thank everyone that has given me this opportunity. Everyone at Hopeless Records for taking a chance on some kids and giving us a shot. Martin Feveyear for being the best guy to record with and making us who we are today. David Tresko for believing in us before we believed in ourselves and sticking through everything with us. All the families that have let us eat at their houses’ and let us shower. Brad for making me laugh so much on the road and making it that much better. Matt, Will, Greg and Dango for being my brothers through the good and bad and sharing this time with me. And lastly everyone that I’ve met on the road at shows or have talked to online. By believing in what we were doing meant so much to me and everyone that I’m having trouble finding the words to adequately thank you. I truly believe that God has called me back into being a pastor again. I want to live my life for God the best way that I can, and for me that is not this. I know some people don’t understand that, but if you have any questions at all, please contact me at Justin@amberpacific.com. I would love to share with you everything to let you know what I believe and why I believe I’m doing the right thing. There’s something special about Amber Pacific; there always was. Since the beginning I always knew in the back of my mind that we would make it. I still have no doubt in my mind that they are going to be huge! Please support them through everything. Go to AP shows and buy the CDs and go up and say hello. Tell all your friends about them before they find out from someone else. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this part of my life with me. You all mean so much to me that I will never, ever forget you. Follow your heart, no matter what it says. It might seem like it’s not worth it or it doesn’t make any sense, but if you live your life without your heart you’re already dead. It’s my time to do that.” – Justin Westcott

As a band we are sad to see him go, but it has been a little easier on us because it wasn’t all of the sudden for us, and we have had a chance to absorb it over time. In that time frame we have also been trying out guitarists and figuring out who will be coming out on tour with us in 2006. In 2006 we will know for sure who that will be, but for now just know that we have big touring plans for 2006. We just picked up an incredible booking agent so we should be on some great tours in 2006. We will keep you posted as those tours develop.

As for the rest of 2005, after this next tour, we will be taking off December and part of January to allow Will time to write for our sophomore album (We’ll be announcing when we are recording and such in the coming months). Although you should know that the stuff that he has written thus far is incredible.

As for other happenings with us, we are going to have a new website very soon, so stay tuned for that as well. We have had the same site since the EP, so we are due for a new one.

As for merch: allot of you have been asking about our online merch being out. We can now tell you to order away… we put a huge order in a couple weeks ago, and short of thousands of you ordering them all at once, we will have the store fully stocked this next week (Track Jackets, Hoodies, etc.)! Sorry for the delay, we have updated our process for staying on top of that, so hopefully it won’t happen in the future.

There are rumors about doing another video, maybe recording some acoustic songs in the meantime before the next album is released… we will let you know when those rumors / discussions become reality.

To sum it all up, this next tour will be Justin’s last tour with Amber Pacific. So if you are one of the kids who have been friends with him, or you just want to meet him, and you get a chance to make it out for this tour, he would love to see you.

Thanks for everyone’s support. We can’t ever say that enough, and couldn’t do this without it. We will keep you posted on recording, the new website, our next tour, etc. as soon as we know. Have a safe Halloween everyone, and hopefully we get a chance to see you on this next tour.

Love,

Amber Pacific

He should become a pastor. Then he should join the band Westcott. Just cause of the funny name thing. But seriously, I wish the best to him and to the band in the future.

Eh, they're a show band. Too much jumping and Sean Mackin back flips. Houston Calls outplayed them on the tour... hands down.

That's too bad. At least it's on good terms and not kicking him out which seems to be the trend these days.
