Adam Weiser at East/West informed me of his recent life changing experience (not literally). He was going about his normal business, when he stepped into an elevator and found himself standing next to P. Diddy and Missy Elliott. So I was wondering, have any of you ever come in close contact with famous musicians or other celebrities? Share your experiences in the replies.

my family is into sports a lot. ive had dinner with joe torre, manager of the yankees (he is a client of my uncle's), as well as keith van horn (basketball player for the nets/knicks, client of my father's), and today actually i met phil ramone (songwriter's hall of fame, produced aretha franklin and many more). my family is close to nolan ryan (famous pitcher for the mets way back) and his family, he was a childhood friend of my father's. i met paul newman and billy zane (titanic) after a broadway show ("Chicago").
and not that he's a "celebrity" but i went to europe for two months with the red headed kid from american idol, remember him? jon stevens. (conan o'brien always makes fun of him on his late late show, yeah that kid)

I looked back at this guy with an extremely large mullet and sunglasses and said no. So she looked in disbelief and said its Kyle Petty. also, something more akin to the AP crowd, Matt Skiba put me on the guest list of a sold out alk3 show at the 930 club in washington a couple of years ago. i met him before the show, told him what was up, he put me on the list. bought $50 worth of merch as a thank you.

oh man...i dont wanna come off as bragging in this post, but ive been lucky enough to meet a lot of athletes and musicians.
for my radio show i have met and interviewed: justin, cove, and beau of saosin; andrew mcmahon and josh partington of something corporate; hrishikesh hirway of the one am radio; sarah balliet of murder by death; alex and logan of paulson; pete francis of dispatch; jacoby shaddix of papa roach, and some others.
other musicians i have met are kenny from moneen, claudio sanchez and mike todd from coheed, eddie from taking back sunday, kenny from the starting line, pete morcey from 100 demons, all of with honor, all of glassjaw, head automatica, so many more i cant even think.
i'd say the standouts are def: chilling with something corporate in their dressing room before their show at toads place in new haven. interviewed josh for the radio show, andrew walked in during it, and after the interview i talked to andrew for like 15 minutes and he signed the paper i wrote some questions down on so i didnt forget to mention anything. when i was talking to him i asked him if he had made the setlist for the show yet, and he said "no, why, are there some songs u wanted to hear tonight?" i responded with 4 or 5 songs i really wanted to hear and why...and he said "well i think yer gona have a really good night then." i def did, as they played every single one of those songs, including cavanaugh park. that was the one i said i wanted to hear most, and they actually opened with it, which made me feel awesome because all 3 times id seen soco before that, they opened with hurricane. oh man that was such a good night.
meeting my musical idol, daryl palumbo, def gotta mention. went to see glassjaw at snocore tour with sparta in worcester mass at the palladium. after the show, which obv was incredible, i waited outside near the bus and when the band came out i got them all to sign my ticket stub, and i got a pic of daryl, me, my best friend, and my girl together. so that rules. we talked for a few minutes, but id def love to meet him again and interview him for my show. he has been in the indy record store i work at a few times, never when i was there tho. grrrr. it'll happen tho hah.
interviewing jacoby shaddix of papa roach before their show in the dressing room at toads in new haven and then partying with them afterwards as well. i dont really care what the people on this board think of p roach, as i assume most who read this dont like em, but ive been into them since i saw the video for last resort on this tv show that used to be on usa network called farmclub.com, and was hosted by matt pinfield. i saw like whatttt is this, loved it. anyways so i've been on their street team for a few years now and have gotten to meet them a few times, but i never had my radio recording equipment. so the last time i saw them before the show at toads, i asked jacoby if he would do an interview for my show if i brought the stuff the next time, and he said absolutely. so this time i made sure of it, and he made good on his promise. after a meet and greet the band had prior to the show, he brought my friend chris and i to the dressing room and did the interview. he offered us food and drink ("want a beer?") from their table, and was very cool. after the show, we went back down and jacoby made me a red bull and vodka and we all chilled and drank and had a good time. gotta love when one of yer fav band's lead singers makes u the drink. haha. it was cinco de mayo so dave the drummer had this huge sombrero on. such an awesome night.
non-music:
i have met many athletes. i am a diehard minnesota twin fan. yes, im from connecticut. no connection to minnesota whatsoever. the deal is the twins' double-a affiliate is the new britain rock cats, about 20 mins from my house. from 1995-98 or 99 i went to the games all the time. the rock cats centerfielder was none other than torii hunter, who real quick won his 5th straight gold glove award yesterday. hes the man. we used to talk all the time after the games, very accessable. he hooked me up so much.... 2 game used bats, game used batting gloves, all kinds of signed stuff. hes the reason i still give a shit about sports. my uncle got me a few of his gameworn minor league jerseys from the rock cat team store when he was still unknown, and then one of his gameworn major league jerseys, so i have some sick stuff in my room.
other guys i met while goin to rock cat games all the time: vladimir guerrero, david ortiz, jacque jones, doug mientkiewicz, todd walker, cristian guzman, a.j. pierzynski, basically any player thats been on the twins that went through new britain.
im stopping now. i feel lucky in this regard.

At a local Battle of the Bands in Aspen CO, the mosh pit for the band playing after us had some kids that liked to throw things, so one guy threw a water bottle and it hit this lady that was standing in back of me in the face, so I turned around to see who had been hit, and it was freaking Melanie Griffth standing there with Antiono Banderes! I didn't talk to them, but Antiono is really short. It was pretty cool to see a celeb get hit in the face with a water bottle though...

i work at a hotel on the east coast and have had the following run ins...
Almost running into the Game with some newspapers. Him looking a little upset.
Finding out that Brian McKnight likes to have sex with she-males, transformers, and other miscellaneous names for drag queens.
Ludacris hanging out in a car, driving around the block so he can get in the hotel a little more undetected.
My first day in NYC, I was shopping for some shoes and ran into Mike Dirnt of Green Day at David Z's. We talked for a moment, he was a totally cool nice fella.
I live in Atlanta. I've been around Andre 5000, Big Boi, and Sleepy Brown on many occasions. Also had my picture taken with Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz ... that has to be one of my favorites of all time. That's before he was really famous. In his indie rock rap days, you know, I like his old stuff before he sold out ... or something.

chris simpson stood in front of me at a gas station while i was getting hot chocolate, had no idea it was him til i saw him play later that night. not necessarily a huge star, but c'mon, its chris simpson.
I'd take a Chris Simpson encounter over just about anyone else in the history of mankind. I nearly passed out when I actually got to hang out with him in LA a couple months back...Greatest moment ever.

I won't talk about the ones that were on purpose, but I have a few that happened by chance.
-Driving down the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood I nearly ran over Kelly Osbourne who was running across the street with a friend to the Whisky.
-A summer or two ago my family took a trip to Hawaii. We're about to board the plane when I see Joey Lawrence and one of the younger brothers, the one that kinda looks like a duck. It was cool or whatever, but later on during the trip we went into one of the towns and three of the brothers were there (Joey, Matt, and the Duck one) getting MAULED by all these Hawaiian chicks who wanted autographs. Funny.
-My dad lives in Glendale (CA) so I'm always at this blockbuster by his place. A couple weeks ago I'm looking for something to rent when Lizzie McGuire (or Hilary Duff, whatever) walks in with one of the guys from GC. I guess one of the GC guys lives around Glendale or something. I tried not to laugh or be an asshole, but this little boy went up to Lizzie and asked for an autograph and she said no. I asked the checkout clerk about it and he said they come in every once in a while.
-My friend has a beach house in Oxnard (CA) and we were walking her dog on the beach and there's this dude on a cell phone watching this sea lion that has red tide or whatever. He turns around, still on his phone, and starts playing with my friend's dog. Woody Allen. I about died.
This one is kinda similar, not really that cool, but it trips me out: There was this Scientology high school across the street from the high school I went to. There were like three of these really punkass kids who used to skateboard all over the place, and they were the only Scientology kids who were nice to us. Last year I found out one of the punkass kids, Sonny, had started singing for From First To Last. It was seriously weird when I found out since I kept reading posts about them here.

I've also hung out with MCR quite a few times. Once for a whole day because I won a contest to be their roadie for a Warped Tour date.

also, my friends cousin is bruce springsteen so I met him.
I interned at lookout records and met green day.
there's others too but I don't remember right now.
I met Flava Flav last December at the Clandestine afterparty/Release the Bats screening. He hung out in the bar of the Hard Rock Hotel all night. He even sang "911 Is a Joke" when the DJ played it, haha. It was crazy.
Hahaha.
but seriously, i have had some encounters with famous people:
I too have been shopping on melrose in hollywood and ran into Davey from AFI at a comic book store, and The Hanson Bros at a shoe store on the same day.
I also got stopped at the border going into canada, and tim armstrong and the rest of rancid and the distillers were stopped at the same time. one of the girls from the distellers (not Brody) asked to borrow some change to buy a soda.
also another elevator story, i was at a hotel and shared a elevator with Benji from good charlotte, he looked at me, and said "Hi, my name is Benji", i have also shared an elevator with jason marz.
and i also saw the host from amazing race, topher grace, and danny masterson all in Hollywood about a week ago

A bunch of the Eighteen Visions guys used to come into my work because they were friends with my manager but I never really had full coversations with them.
I rang up some girl from the show Laguna Beach, but I didn't know (or care) who she was because i didn't have cable at the time.
Besides these two lame ones I've been to two Blink signings and one Used signing. Both bands actually talked to me. They said more than just the typical "Hi, how you doin?"

i was at a hotel and shared a elevator with Benji from good charlotte, he looked at me, and said "Hi, my name is Benji"

Uhm, I've met LFO (yeah, the guys who sang "Summer girls"). They were playing a charity softball game here. They probably should have made sure they were good first, the other players were even going easy with them. I was.. 10? something like that. Afterwards, they were mauled by all of us trying to get autographs, two of them (I forget their names, but all of them except rich, the prettyboy one) drew a line & called it their signature. Rich kept trying to pick up 16 year old girls, and he didn't sign anything.
haha, still in the old pop days, I met Bwitched. That girl group. They were in the mall for a performance & signing. Nothing big unless you were like 11. which i was.
& I made my whole family stay up all night when I was like 8 calling into the radio to try to win backstreet boys tickets. We still lost.
Then Brand New was doing an instore when they released Deja at Tower up here. It was basically acoustic & absolutely amazing. Jesse told us he wanted us all to go home pregnant. But it really was great. Then, I got them all to sign my deja booklet & I told Jesse I loved him & he smiled & drew a heart next to his signature. That was a great day.
I caught the 111 tour when they came by philly. I forced my brother along & as we were walking up to the pontiac (the venue) I saw nick thomas. Just sitting there eating. I started spazzing out, but I kept walking cause I'm extremely shy. I'm absolutely obsessed with him, so I was convinced I could never talk to him. My brother dragged me back & started talking to him. All of a sudden I started shaking & nick said "Don't do that". Then I was like about to cry & he said "Don't do that" haha. My 3 favorite words.
I doubt he's ever had someone like that with him. But I couldn't even stop myself from shaking. Wierdest thing of my life. I was acting like Johnny Depp was standing in front of me. But, I beat the rush for his autograph. My prized posession. Best.night.of.my.life
I don't really go to many shows. I don't know anyone else who likes the bands I do, & I don't like being there by myself. Eh, I hope I'll have more stories soon.

A Change of Pace-are douchebags so making fun of them didn't feel bad
Saosin- I met Chris and Cover personally rather than a meet and greet, Cove is shy and stutters when he talks...but sings like a champ
The Bled-Darren(bass player) I know his girlfriend and because of that was on the guestlist for the Thrice-UO-Bled-Veda show in Chi town and Darren hung out with me and 2 of my friends for about 3 hours. He can't stand hardcore music...but is in the Bled, weird-o.

I worked backstage at Riverbend in Cincinnati Summer 2004 and one or two shows this summer and saw/met: Blink 182, the Used (twice) and Bert poked my knee and was like "you're sunburned", Taking Back Sunday, Melissa Etheridge, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey and Nick's brother, the other one in 98 degrees, Ryan Cabrera, 311, 3 Doors down, Nickleback, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Kiss (with and without makeup), Poison, Linkin Park, Less than Jake, Snoop Dogg, Korn, Evanescence, Thornley, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Days Grace, People at the '04 Warped tour, One of the guys in the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Barenaked Ladies, Alanis Morrisette, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Black Crowes (and Kate Hudson was there too), John Mellencamp, The Allman Brothers Band and the Lead singer of Papa Roach. And I was standing behind some of the Backstreet Boys in the catering line at work too. From working backstage, everyone seemed nice enough. I guess it's really hard to maintain some kind of normalcy (sp) when you're living that kind of life style. I actually had more hassle about doing my job (which was to check passes) and overall rudeness from the crew members than from the actual performers.
Then from Going to shows I've met and got autographs from Travis from Blink 182 (who was watching a band play on the side stage at a Blink show), Some of Brand New, Some of Straylight Run, Eisley, MxPx, Hidden in Plain View, New Found Glory, and some more I can't think of.
Then at a country show this summer, I was working in a section close to the stage and I was standing next to the Mayor of Cincinnati and a bunch of the Reds were there and being really obnoxious, but I guess you can do that when you're major league baseball players. Then as I was leaving that night, I saw one of them taking a piss outside of their limo. I laughed, but my friend was freaking out because she loved this guy and she was watching him pee. haha.

I've met Jared Leto a few times when his band has came to town. I always thought he'd be a complete asshole, but he's not. Complete opposite. Very nice guy, very flirtatious. He sure has some purty blue eyes that pretty much steal your soul if he stares into your eyes.
I've met tons and tons of musicians none of whom I'd consider really "famous" but a few of my favorites stories:
- Running into Fenix Tx & Blink 182 back in a truck stop after a show in 2000. Having the drummer of fenix tx step on my shoe. It fucking hurt!
- Meeting Tim Armstrong at warped tour when I was like 14... and talking to him for over an hour. He definitely invited me to go drink some beers and hang out on the bus with him and the guys. I find this a highly amusing story. Now I wouldn't think twice. Free beer and air conditioning? But I mean at the time.. I was 14. I was a good kid. No drinking for me.
- When I graduated high school I thought it would be a really funny idea to have people in band's sign my yearbook. Partly because I didn't have too many friends back then... and partly because I thought it would be hilarious to go back and see what I listened to when I'm older. So Dicky Barrett from Mighty Mighty Bosstones signs it and writers "Dear Jill. Have fun in college. Go easy on the beer!" Yeah, I sure took that advice.
- Meeting Green Day was pretty cool. There's really no "cool" story involved. I just went to a signing and met them. Ended up running into them later that night after the show.. so heck, I didn't even have to go to the signing I guess. I figured that'd be my only shot to ever meet them.
- Going out to dinner with Reel Big Fish, The Matches, and Zebrahead back in 2003 and having Aaron bail on the check and leave it for Scott to pay. And Shawn from the matches was telling me some insane story about owning some girls soul. He showed me the piece of paper and all, hah.
- Last November Atreyu/TBS/Funeral For a Friend played two days up in Toronto. My best friend and I went both nights. One of the only things I remember from that weekend is walking onto Atreyu's bus and having Alex say to us "Want some beer? Now I only have one rule... if you're going to drink one.. you have to drink several" and we did. I vaguely remember going to some $20 rave for free... but we got weirded out by all the green lights and lack of anyone other than asians and left.
- Skate & Surf '04 in the Berkeley Carteret. My best friend and I had just stolen some beers from someone's bathroom. Hey, we had to pee.. and the beers were right there in the bathtub... "Are you stealing our beers?" "Noooooooooo" meanwhile we're stuffing them in our purses. We walked out of the room and we see Matt Watts from The Starting Line. And then something like this happens: "Uh-ohhhhh here comes trouble! What are you girls doing?" "Uh, stealing beers" "I'm calling security on you!" *runs down the hall* "Security! Security!" *runs back* "Hey, where did you score those beers from again.. can you get me one?" haha.
I remember harassing a lot of people in bands that year. Some of which I already know. Some of whom I didn't. We also met Matt Pinfield that year. He was completely wrecked and blabbing to us about something or other having to do with music. I don't remember. We got a picture... rubbed his bald head for good luck and were off.
Uhhhh I met Brad from LFO, once? hahaha.

I know Miss Universe (http://www.missuniverse.com/missuniverse/index.html) but she hasn't returned my phone calls since i slept with her and didn't call her back.
Remember that kids if you have sex with a really fine women call her the next day and tell her she was great in bed (even if she wasn't). If not you might have one of those.... "the one that got away" moments.
ok...ok.... i never slept with her, but i do know her.

i had a life changin experience when i met Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker at a concert 5 years ago. Mark gave me a high five, and then Travis let me in on a Blunt with him and some guys. The nicest guys in the world. I also met Tom Delonge at a Box Car Racer show, when they toured with H20 and The Used. He signed a t-shirt, but i turned around and sold it for 150 bucks to a hot girl, i then saw her boobs...it wasnt worth it :( but the boobs were nice. eatin dinner with the guys from spitalfield was cool, then we got to open for them and hawthorne heights. thats about it tho...pathetic that i havnt actually met a celebrity, they dont exsit in my mind. but seeing and meeting is beliving.

I was walking down the street and I passed this couple and was just walking right in front of them. I wasn't really paying attention until I thought that the woman sounded a lot like Amy Poehler. Jokingly I thought to myself, "What if that is Amy Poehler and her husband right behind me?" (She's married to Will Arnett, Gob on Arrested Development.) Then I heard the guy speak and he sounded just like Will Arnett (and I kept calling him "Gob" in my mind cause I didn't know his real name). So by this time I'm really curious to see whether or not it was them so I slowed down and moved over to the side. They passed me and I looked up and it was Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. I almost had a heart attack, cause I love Arrested Development.
I also just saw Sandra Bernhardt today.

I met Karl Rove and Dubya this summer... Karl Rove was actually really nice and funny and told my 13 year old brother that he liked his lime-green shirt. When I met Dubya, I got my pic taken with him, he shook my hand, and then started to walk away, but after getting like 3 steps away from me, he stopped short, looked back at me over his shoulder, shot me this sly-ass look, and said, "You. You behave yourself."

I got to meet Katie Couric she shops in my store when she's home. Mary Tyler Moore lives in the next town over and I ran into her when i was little going into the grocery store, she's a total bitch no one likes her around here.I went to hs with the kid from Jurassic Park the red haired one no one liked him and they used to throw dirt and rocks in his locker and make dinosaur noises when he walked down the hall he also came to school in a limo while everyone else took the bus. Music wise. I chatted with Ryan (the bassist) of Matchbook Romance they live near me, Andy's mom was my best friends Englsh teacher in Hs. I've met Finch twice the last time my friend was a little drunk and started telling them how much they sucked so nate ran on the bus and Randy got the other bands to try and beat him up. I've met GC twice and Benji and Billy were the nicest. Hung out with The Black Maria really cool and funny guys I tried to trade shoes with the lead singer cuz he had really cool misfits shoes. I've met The Used very cool and nice guys, My friend stalked Jeph around our mall. I was in Boston to see the Dropkick Murphy's St. Paddy Day show and we were walking around Fenway near the venue. When I see 2 guys that look familular. It was Matt their drummer and Ken their Bassist. I told my best friend and she went chasing them down the street for me and we got to talk to them. They were really late for soundcheck and stood and talk to me and my friends for 10, 15 minutes. It was cool.

I used to work at a western themed amusement and water park (no joke, cowboys and waterslides all up in northern NH) and Mic Foley (aka Mankind) came for a couple visits. I sent him and his girls down the raft waterslide a bunch of times...He's fucking huge. He looks tiny next to all the other guys on tv...but when you stand next to him...he's friggin massive. I tried to harrass him for a autograph but i got denied by his wife... i think that they were having a bad day because it happened to be the same day the little league baseball team that the park sponsored was there. SO needless to say, mr. foley spent most of his day being harrassed by 10 year old instead of enjoying his family.
Oh yeah, also i pretty much almost run over Bode Miller (US olympic alpine skiing gold hopeful) everyday when i drive home from work. He lives like 3 minutes away from me. One time he almost ran over me and my friend jimmy at Canon mtn. He's not really a jerk that tried to run us over...we just happened to be unavoidable since we were in a heap at the bottom of the lift. Luckily we scrambled to saftey and watied for him to go on a different slope than us. We tried to avoid the embarresment of the amateurish mistake of falling at the end of a lift being notice too much but an olympic team member...hah im awesome.

I was at a bar once and Kris Roe bought me a pint of Guinness. Then I looked behind us and Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters was sitting there eating wings and drinking beer and then Travis Barker and Tim Armstrong walked in.
All explained by the fact that the Ataris had just played at a club down the street and the Foo Fighters and the Transplants were playing a show the next night in town and were off that night.
I've also met Madeline Albright and General Wesley Clark.
And I've seen those idiots from Good Charlotte in the mall before, but they don't count.
