You have 30 days, sure it's not ideal, but it's pretty common, even if you're renting a house or apartment on a month-to-month lease. Go look on Craigslist or something. I don't know where in NC you are, but there's a ton of super nice 1 and 2 bedroom apartments in Raleigh for like $500/month including a washer & dryer.
