Fan reports in from last night's Fenix TX show:
Tonight at the Fenix TX reunion show in Houston, TX (which is a hometown show), tons of family members of Fenix TX were in attendance, and we witnessed Will Salazar do many crazy things, including asking my girlfriend if he could put some spanish into her. He also said "Give it up for Houston Balls," and "A Gay At the Fair." He mentioned Prince's lawsuit, and then covered Nirvana's Territorial Pissings. They still managed to put on a hell of a show, until the encore of "Tearjerker," in which he played metal guitar to the verses, as well as messing up the lyrics. Will also called a volunteer up to put the microphone in between her breasts, and he managed to sing "All My Fault" with the microphone lodged in between. Damon, the drummer was not in attendance, because according to Will, he was arrested. The drummer from Denver Harbor filled in, and about halfway through the set, the original drummer Donnie (who played in River Fenix) finished the set, including GBOH. ! He also mentioned there will be a new Fenix TX in 2006 if they ever stop drinking.

I love this band -- and they're one of the main reasons that I listen to / play the music that I do today...
* BUT *
The future does not look bright to me. After seeing them in concert on this tour when Will couldn't sing -- and hearing what's happened at other shows on tour -- not to mention the cancellations, etc -- I just don't think this whole reunion is going to make it.
There was a reason that it didn't work the first time around -- and I think this reunion (which COINCIDENTALLY just happens to be at the same time as Denver Harbor was dropped) will be very short-lived... and that saddens me.

They should put Damon back on guitar and let Ilan play the kit. Move damon to bass and kick the weird fat guy out. That would take the good elements from denver harbor and good elements from fenix tx and leave both fat awkward bass players on their asses. Then I think they'd be allright.

i saw them in baltimore and they were awesome, but then again, they weren't drinking because they were "hungover from the night before"

He also said "Give it up for Houston Balls," and "A Gay At the Fair."
In the interest of completeness, Fenix TX also gave it up to "Child Mol-Allister".

They can't put Damon "back on guitar" because he has been kicked out of the band. As for Ilan, at least you know his name. I guess the person who started this thread doesn't know that Ilan Rubin is one of the bestt drummers around. You can't move Damon to bass because you've already moved him back to guitar and...oops!!, I forgot, he can't do either because he's been kicked out of the band. As for the two "fat" bass players; Adam is a Fenix Tx original who hasn't gotten arrested for...., and Aaron is Ilan's brother, so I doubt they're going anywhere. BTW, they both play guitar as well.
As for Will Salazar, I agree that he needs to get his shit in order. Being shitfaced during every performance is going to get old really fast; if it hasn't already.
Fortunately for Denver Harbor, since they are playing early, Will has been pretty sober. I heard their set last night was tight. Any comments on them or any of the other bands that have been playing?

I'd love to see Donnie drumming, he should have been drumming the whole tour and Damon should be playing guitar. Their glory days were in the beginning.
It's like having a Van Halen reunion with that guy from Extreme as the singer.

When did damon get kicked out... I thought he was playing drums since they kicked donny out? I must be behind, who is currently the drummmer? I thought donny and Ilan filled in for Damon because as will put it 'he got arrested'.. it sounds like he is still in the band.

Its fine to have a few beers and play, but playing wasted is retarded. Absolutely the dumbest most disrespectful thing you can do.

Sweet! I love donnie, I have a stick from him when they played Huntington Beach years ago. That show was the first time I saw them live. It was so freaking hot that day it made Warped tour feel air conditioned.

As far as I know, as of two nights ago, Damon is out and Ilan is in for the rest of this tour and Japan in January. What happens after that will depend on what happens to Fenix Tx, but, if the band does anymore touring, I'm sure they'll ask Ilan to stay on. They'd be crazy not to.
So now it's three people from Denver Harbor pulling double duty. That can't be easy.
Interesting little soap opera they've got going on.

see, that's why i don't understand why everyone is so pissed about how they're playing on this tour. they've always been a horrendous live band, regardless of how drunk they were. i saw them like five years ago when Lefty, Good Charlotte, and A New Found Glory opened for them and no one in the place knew anything other than that one popular Fenix TX song. all three of the opening bands showed them up, and that's why at least two of them are huge and still bands today, and Fenix TX isn't. their records own, but c'mon, they've always been horrible. get over it.

Having a new and much better drummer will do wonders for their live show, so I don't think anybody should count them out just yet.
When a drummer is sloppy and off-tempo it drags the band down and makes for an overall bad show; but when the drummer is tight, powerful and precise, the effect on the band is just the opposite. Look for some good Fenix Tx shows on the rest of this tour.

are you implying that because the young dude from denver harbor is on drums? do you know what happened with damon and why he wasnt there?
by the way, i talked to the denver harbor drummer, and he said he hasnt heard half of those fenix tx songs and he improv'd alot of them last night. i was so impressed, because he was top fucking notch.

i hope so  hahaha.

it's not an implication, it's fact. And yes:yes to your questions about Damon.
as for Ilan's drumming abilities, yes, they're off the scale.
Oh, and I remember F.o.N.

I'd like to hear another studio release from these guys..and I strongly dislike when musicians are drunk on stage (with the exception of Flogging Molly since they're Irish and still play well and Reel Big Fish's old trumpet player since he was a huge black guy and it was funny)

Unless the draw starts to improve and they sell a lot of the live cd, I don't think there will be another studio album from Fenix Tx. I mean, who is "Fenix Tx"? Damon has been kicked out and Ilan Rubin is now playing drums for them. Will and Chris are also playing, which makes 3 people from the Denver Harbor lineup in "Fenix Tx". A couple nights ago, Aaron Rubin from Denver Harbor joined them on stage, which put all of Denver Harbor on stage plus one Fenix Tx guy. So, WHO IS FENIX TX and is that name worth anything anymore. The shows are definately getting better, so everyone should catch them, but the final line-up and the final name is still up in the air. I'm betting that by the end of the tour, there will be one band representing both Fenix Tx and Denver Harbor and we'll have the best of both worlds. It will rock!!!!
