i hope this project is decent, but, not unlike most things, it's been hyped so much that it could not possibly live up to the expectations.

i still think the smartest thing to do is release a phenomenal album without talking it up for months in advance. some of the greatest albums i've heard have blown me away because i hoped they'd be good, but hadn't been told on millions of websites for months ahead of time that they were great.

but what do i know.

but it's smart as far as selling copies goes. he's gonna sell craploads because people are going to be so curious. it doesn't matter too much after that, even though it should.

well, i had originally wrote "like most things talked about on this site", but that seemed a bit harsh. its just that every band who goes into the studio now starts talking about how they're making their career defining record which gets everyone all pumped for it and then when it's not life-changing, it's a let down.

i'm not saying the records are bad, but it's more likely to make an impact on you if you weren't planning for it to.

also, i do agree that it certainly helps sell records in the first week when people are stoked for it, but when it's nothing great, those sales are going to spiral downward. a great album that comes out of nowhere and climbs the charts is a much hotter commodity in my opinion. it's not uncommon for a record to debut at number one these days, what is more uncommon is to debut modestly and climb the charts based on positive response and good word of mouth.

Well, if we look at the last picture of them in the studio, we can see a chord tom is making. So if we play that....then assume everything else he plays after and before that chord, we can kind of hear a song.
