You can read an article here (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.11/myspace.html?tw=wn_story_top5) about Hawthorne Heights (http://www.hawthorneheights.com) and how myspace (http://www.myspace.com) has helped them with their success as well as bands in general these days.

Myspace should only exist for bands.
Not for every 15 year old ashlee simpson fan that wants to use a betterfly in place of their cursor.

i think naive pre-teens have a lot more to do with their success than myspace.

MySpace is a virtual proving ground where this guy preys on young children who don't know any better.

MySpace shouldn't be used for bands either. Sure, it's good way to get your name out there, but it also allows shit like HH & that stupid Hollywood Horror band or whatever the fuck they're called to get famous. The days when bands had to tour their asses off and work hard to get recognition are gone.

Yeah. But there's such a huge overflow of shit on there. ANYONE can put up their shitty song that was recorded in their mom's basement and get huge by spamming the shit out of people. I hate myspace.

true.
It does get irritating.
as much as most of you hate myspace, it has paved a way for a lot of bands. though you may not like it, millions of other people do and its one of the best ways to get your music out there.
Though now days there are some promo companies selling software to add friends, post comments and send messages, it has really gone down the drain. A lot of bands used to spend their time and work hard at sending messages and posting comment, but a simple program now ruins that for those bands that have put their time in. And its mainly shitty bands using it too.
all of you have, or have had a myspace account. dont lie.

yea the myspace spamming is getting out of control...its quite annoying and they need to figure away to block some of that shit. i hate opening up my inbox to find 400 "this band wants you to join their group" i fucking hate that more than i can begin to explain.

while you are correct...you cant blame myspace for helping hawthorne heights out...they had already became an insanely popular band and did the whole outselling taking back sunday blah blah blah deal before they hit it off on myspace so yes there are lots of shitty band on myspace but those bands dont go unnoticed as shitty bands (you're not allowed to call hawthorne heights shitty cuz they dont qualify as any one who "put up their shitty song that was recorded in their mom's basement")

So I have MySpace to blame for Hawthorne Heights, too? If I could go back in time, I'd definitely turn MySpace into some educational site about blackholes and stars. That would keep 99% of MySpace's current users off the site, and it would reduce bands like Hawthorne Heights into dust.
