Who is going to see this movie in theatres?

I am gonna see it although I am way more excited about The Producers (it keeps getting rave reviews in early consumer screenings)

Oh wow I am so excited for it. I saw the play in Boston, so I'm interested in seeing the movie. I hope it's as good as the play. I'm going to see it with a guy I know who is the most obsessed person EVER when it comes to Anthony Rapp.

That song is one of a kind in the show...most of the songs in this musical appeal to indie rock fans in my opinion!

Its a rock musical!!! Seasons of Love is the exception

i've never been a big fan of it. i've never seen the play, but i'm not all too bent out of shape about it. i've got nothing against musicals, but there's something about this play that really irks me.

I love musicals and operas and such. I guess being in choir and dance classes really fosters an apreciation for such art forms.

I think this is the most excited I have been about a musical movie since Grease.

Woohoo

at this point i'm too excited about the new harry potter movie to be concerned with any other movies, but i'll probably see it. i like that they got most of the original cast (instead of casting big names who'd probably suck) & it'll be cool to see the characters interact in more dynamic settings.

i saw the producers with martin short & jason alexander, so i definitely want to see matthew broderick & nathan lane in all their glory as well.

we sang "seasons of love" in vocal ensemble last year, all 3 vocal groups (freshman chorus, chorale, vocal ensemble) did it together, it's a great song. i'll probably end up seeing it.

I'm going to it opening night. This movie is going to be amazing. Does anybody have the soundtrack for the movie? It took me a while to get used to a majority of the changes they made from the original broadway recording, but in the end I like what they've done. One Song Glory is so much better, along with Out Tonight, Another Day, and What You Own in my opinion.

Just got back from it. In a word, AMAZING! I loved it, end of story. It was absolutely captivating. Rosario Dawson did an incredible job as Mimi, and the entire original Broadway Cast was spectacular. Be prepared for an epic film experience.

I loved it. But, I spent the whole time picking out the differences between the movie and stage production. In some ways, the movie was better, like the tango scene was neat. But, overall I prefer the stage production.

And, I'm going to see wicked in a few weeks. I'm psyched.

I thought the movie was fantastic. I've already seen it twice, actually. But, then again, I'm totally biased since I've literally grown up with the play. My dad is a huge musical freak and has been listening to the soundtrack since he first saw it in 1996, which pretty much means the songs have been burned into my brain forever. Even though I'm a huge fan of the musical, I thought they did a great job translating it to the screen. Not to say the movie was flawless, though. Roger singing in the canyons? A little strange.

And for everyone who is excited for The Producers: it is really great. I was in a test audience for it about three weeks ago and loved it. I had some doubts at the beginning, as it started out really slow and there was more than a little over-acting, but towards the end it was just hilarious. But RENT was much better in my opinion. But, as I said before, I'm more than a little biased.

Haha, a friend went with his girlfriend last night and said it was the worst movie he has seen in his entire life, and one of the most painful experiences. I will take his word and stay far away from it. I hate musicals.

Here's what I think the thing is with this movie..

If you are a fan of the play beforehand, then you will love it.
If you're going to see the movie because you've heard good things about it or whatever, then you'll hate it.

Thats kind of what I figured. I figured you would of already had to of had an appreciation for it.

I think you don't have to be a fan beforehand, but liking musicals might help. Also, this is a different kind of musical because you have to accept people singing during everyday life. In Chicago, for example, they had a device for the singing: it all happened in Roxie's head. In RENT, the people are just singing, and some people can't really get past that. There is also about twenty minutes of dialogue in the entire film, which might be a turn-off to people who aren't musical fans. But, that said, I have friends who liked it who aren't into musicals and had never heard of RENT before. So I guess it really just depends on the person.
