Ok, so I don't post here often, as a matter of fact, this is my first post, but I check the forums just about every day. Anyway, my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years broke up with me about 3 weeks ago, I can't get her off of my mind no matter where I am, or who I'm with, I've gotten several phone numbers already from many different ladies, but nothing feels the same. If anyone has any advice, please feel free to share, it would rock pretty hard. Thanks!

Like everyone else was saying in the last thread, 3 weeks is too short of time. You need to stay single for awhile longer to regain your identity as a single person, if that makes any sense. The reason it doesn't feel the same is because you were so used to being in a relationship with this other girl. All it takes is a little time.

Yeah, I definitely understand the time thing. 3 weeks isn't that long, and although it's felt like a real long time, I thought maybe I'd feel at least a little different by now, if only marginally. If anybody else has gone through this, what helped you the most? I've tried just about everything I can think of haha

You're single! Enjoy it! Being in a relationship is nice, but you're young! Get out there! Do what you want to do!

dude it's gonna be hell and nothing at all is gonna feel the same, whether it's the smallest thing, but don't let yourself get bored. keep yourself busy, listen/make music, read a book, do whatever you can to keep your mind busy. it will pass though, just don't let the bad thought get stuck in your head and you'll be fine.

But being from Long Island also, I'd say you'd have to agree that in a weird way...there's always something around to do, yet nothing at the same time.

Yeah, I live in the town next to you so I can understand what you mean. The Downtown is done for, the Sunrise Mall sucks, when the weather is shitty you're pretty much fucked. Anyway, good luck on dealing with all of it dude.

im currently going thru the same thing dude. so far my experience has been fairly depressing, but - similar to what was said before - the best thing is to try not to get stuck thinking about what has happened, and worry about constructive things instead. getting your thoughts out by writing and having good conversations with friends has been helping me get by as well. you just got to do your best and learn how to be independant again. im sure we've written some similar songs lol. and sunrise mall sucks, thats why i goto roosevelt field...... lol.

brianHaha Yeah, Roosevelt all the way. I'm actually more surprised at what I've been writing lately, nothing even remotely hints at the break up, I've been writing a lot about society, media, narrow-minded people, etc. And you're right, being with friends has helped more than anything. Things are slowly fading, I'm just in a bit of a hurry to get all these feelings over with. I'm sure you can relate.

Yeah, like everyone else has been saying - give it time. Don't think about relationships, and don't think about her... keep things like "i wonder what she's up to" or "i wonder what we'd be doing right now" out of your head. Go have some drinks, go play some sports, go to some concerts, play videogames, write/play music... keep busy and in a while you'll be fine.

Yea, it's definitely worth a rent, and a buy. The opening monologue is every thread on here about getting over a girl.
There's the rub.

Here is the deal. Women are all inherently whores, for one thing or another. The sooner you learn that and live by it, the sooner you will be happy and in control.

I didn't get a chance to pick up Swingers yet, but I definitely will. And about the drinking -- that went on for about 2 weeks straight, and I haven't had a drink since. Just kinda...stopped. Haha
Edit: Nevermind, yes I have, but I haven't been trashed

why don't you just put "women are whores" in 36 pt bolded font in your sig? you say it in every thread, it must get tiring to type out.
