Veda played first and silenced everyone. I did not hear any negative comments from anyone, which surprised me because I heard plenty of people in line trashing Vheissu. I purchased Veda's CD after their set, and I am not at all disappointed. They remind me of Sparta, but with a female vocalist.
The Bled played next. They were pretty good. They sound quite different from their records, though. It was a good performance; very energetic.
UnderOath impressed me. Spencer performs like he is straight out of hell. His jet-black long hair makes him look like the epitome of a metal singer. They were very energetic and really got the crowd into it. Having two lead vocalists improves upon their live show. Everyone in the band was equally into it. They played two new'ns. The new songs sound more like The Changing of Times than Chasing Safety. Spencer got sick and threw up on the side of the stage while the band jammed for a little. Then some idiot called Spencer a pansy, so Spencer spit in his face. It made me chuckle.
Thrice....oh my god....Thrice. Their CD has nothing on their live show. Thrice is now in competition with Incubus for the best live show I've ever witnessed. The set was the same as the one at the 9:30 Club that was posted the other day. It is the perfect set list. I don't think I've ever seen a crowd that into a band before. Everyone was at least doing something, whether it was singing along, pushing to the front, playing air drums (that's right...someone was playing air drums the entire set), or slamdancing in the pits. Thrice had total control of the audience. This review doesn't even give them enough credit. They are one of the best live bands ever. Don't listen to the nay-sayers.
