the video was cool but its not Yellowcard to me...i hope the new CD doesn't stray too much from what they were before. I mean I barely even heard the violin in the song and I hope that isn't the case on the whole CD.

Not bad. I have this wild idea that they will blow up further.

It reminds me of the Foo Fighters video... fitting, because it sounds like they are trying to sound like them.

nowhere as creative as the videos off of Ocean Ave.

Damn, I personally really like it. I put it behind Way Away, which I think is their best video, and Powder, but ahead of Ocean Avenue and Only One. Pretty cool video, though, reminds me of a mix between not only "Freak on a Leash" but "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay, too. I'm really digging the song too.

it seemed like they showed alot of the new guitarist in the video, like they wanna make sure everyone knows ben isnt in the band anymore... maybe not

Reminds me of a combo between Speed of Sound(Coldplay) and Freak On A Leash (Korn)

i hate how im slowly losing this band.

i cant stand this song. i was really pissed to find out ben wouldnt be with the band anymore but i tried really hard not to let that be a reason i didnt like the band (cuz that really would be kind of stupid to do) anway, maybe it is still keeping me from liking this new stuff, or maybe its because it just sounds different than previous yellowcard stuff, but either way i dont like it and that bums me out big time

gosh people...it's called dying and cutting your hair. that bass player IS pete, he just cut his hair and dyed it a darker color.

wasnt yellowcard supposed to be maturing? this song sounds like a bunch of 6th graders goofing off in their parents basement. seriously..this is genuine crap. the lyrics are awful, the song is generic and lifeless, and this video isn't creative at all and can't hold my attention for more than 30 seconds. there is nothing unique or interesting about this song...there are a million bands out there doing this stuff better. then again, this is coming from the guy with negative a billion scene points...

11/07/05, 07:49 AM
new guitar player = ryan mendez.
i like it. has anyone seen them in concert and heard a few of their new songs? lights and sounds is my least favorite song from what i have heard actually. not sure why they would have chosen this for their single. im glad it doesnt sound like ocean avenue though. i want one for the kids back.

the video/song isn't that bad, although i agree it doesn't sound like Yellowcard... you can barely hear the violin, which is what set them apart in the first place and made them so great in my mind. Everyone needs to cool out about Ben leaving/being kicked out. What a band does to their lineup is their own business, not ours. Plenty of bands have lost members and gone on to make great music... It sucks that most people wont even give this new record a true, unbiased chance...

Video just doesn't do it for me...why can't they just go back and make another album similar to OFTK...screw this maturing and growing up.

The setting reminds me of a warehouse that was used in a CSI episode where those idiot kids challenged themselves to do stupid things and one of them was to set off a gun revolving around a bamboo pole...just a thought.

See, these are my favorite kinds of music videos... a straightforward shot of the band performing, with a lot of simple yet effective flourishes around them to make it visually appealing.

I like this video and song a lot, for the first time I can actually say I am interested in hearing what an upcoming Yellowcard album sounds like.

well i honestly dont think its just cuz ben got kicked out that no one likes this new song....yea it kinda made it hard for me to want to listen to it, but i still gave it a shot, and i still hated the song so... its just not the yellowcard we have all grown to love....and ben did do some of the recording so with or without ben, this new stuff just isnt what we want to hear

this video is korn's "freak on a leash" (as previously noted), plus justin timberlake's "rock your body".

fuck you, you know it's true

oh, and is this growing up and maturing just like blink 182's growing up and maturing? dying our hair and dressing all in black.

violin = not present
ben = not present

YC = sold out.

the only redemption for them is all the shows they've played in the past for free at high schools for kids.

This song is pretty shitty as far as YC goes.

I thought it was a pretty damn good song as far as YC goes, considering I find ocean avenue's songs to all be pretty unlistenable. The only really questionable part about the song was the chorus. They had nothing else but that?

If the rest of the album follows the single's pattern, they're not on a bad track.

this video is korn's "freak on a leash" (as previously noted), plus justin timberlake's "rock your body".

fuck you, you know it's true

oh, and is this growing up and maturing just like blink 182's growing up and maturing? dying our hair and dressing all in black.

I don't know why everyone's saying its freak on a leash. It isn't. I found it to be more of coldplay's video, since the lighting is totally mimicked from that (not a bad choice though, Romanek is a fantastic director). Does anyone know who directed this?

That's the first thing I thought while watching this. Not the the Foo Fighters video.... just them sounded a lot the the Foos... Not a bad song, though.

interesting...given the hype and love leading up to ocean avenue, after a few months the only songs i really cared about on that album were "way away" and "one year, six months" (with possibly "breathing")

plus, the first single was arguably the best song on the album

now, with all the hate and worries leading up to this cd, and the first single arguably the worst track on the cd according to many sources, maybe this cd will surprise all and the band will deliver for the first time since OFTK?

Would be interesting

That said, impressive editing/lighting on the vid; song is growing on me despite my best efforts to not let it; They definitely recorded this cd in the big apple cuz the band looks like they spent way too much time in Soho

i hope its the worst song on the cd...cuz it really cant get much worse in my opinion...well ok, yes it can get worse, but i mean in the sounds of yellowcard...this just isnt what yellowcard fans wanna hear...

You people whining about the violin need to realize that just because there is a violin in the band, that doesn't mean it has to be utilized in every single song. You use the instruments that are best for each song, and to try to put it where it doesn't belong makes it sounds weak and forced (which is how that violin has always sounded to me anyway).
