a band from guernsey who are just coming up now, iv seen them live a few times and there live show is one of the best iv seen and i bought their new record and its incredible, check them out on www.myspace.com/themidcarsoncoalition (http://www.myspace.com/themidcarsoncoalition)
they cover a large range of styles
i like them so much im trying to spread the word to help people outside their tiny liitle island hear about them and trying to help them, they should be playing some gigs in london soon
for fans of, underoath, alexisonfire, story of the year, from autumn to ashes. anything upbeat and energetic, screamy with melodic twists
the cd is an amazing debut, what do you guys think?

The singing is truly awful.
Guitar is a poor man's Alexisonfire.
Screaming is okay.
Pretty average, IMO.

Savage ape A&R caught this band a few weeks ago at a live show case and they are head and shoulders above anything else currently in there gendre, their live show is electric. The demo CD, while in some places quite digital sounding, is excellent.
As where alexisonfire are a third rate one trick pony, Mid Carson (did I spell it right) are different and really stand out. Quite a force.

I have to say, I've seen this band live once or twice and it was incredible, so much energy, so much passion and really good, tight songs. In my opinion, the vocals are pretty good and some of the harmonies and guitar pinches are insane. Definitely one of the best bands I've seen live in quite a while and the CD is ace too, I'd recommend it to anyone

I've been lucky enough to here this band live a few times, and every time they never fail to impress. Awesome lyrics, brutal sreaming, pitch perfect harmonising, piercing pinches and immense stage presence, and the passion & energy that everyone should have in music. I was so impressed i contacted the band through their website and they sent me the 6 track EP in exchange for a mere £6.00! A must have in my eyes, and this band deserves to make it big, and I recommend everyone checks them out!

I've been in a band since January and we're going quite well but after hearing these guys i rethought what i thought was good. I've seen a few reviews of these guys on the internet (as i have a few guernsey connections) and never really thought anything of them but then i checked out their myspace a couple of days ago and the songs really did surprise me. These guys have definitely got talent and potential, it's a shame theyre locked up in the little island. I also got a friend to send me a live video of them and they're performance is absolutely outstanding They've given me encouragement to go to Guernsey more and check out the music scene, maybe we'll even get the chance to play with these guys cus they have everything going for them. Who can i contact to get a copy of there EP? IF anyone could tell me that would be great thanks.

Woah yeh! i've heard these guys and they rule man. i managed to get their EP and get it if you can, first heard them on myspace and just had to get in touch.

yeh i wanna see if my band "victory in denial" can support them sometime maybe
I saw them a couple of months back and they were very impressive! high energy, great chemistry between members, you never know what they are going to do next; one of the most exciting bands that I've watched in a while.
I love the way that their music intergrates energy, catchy lyrics and hooks, whilst sustaining a brutal edge and passionate delivery. I managed to get them to send me the EP last week and I've played it ever since. A thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring start for a great band.

really not that good. singer has an average scream, his singing voice is subpar and the music has cliche guitar lines.

i just thought this band were a really good unsigned band the other day wen i checked them out live a couple times, and when i found outthere were all 17/18 years old i was impressed enough to tell people about them and support.
bulletined on my myspace that i was spreading the word on a few sites and obviously alot of people who like them supported them i guess, no harm in that
anyway they get an ep review on joyzine this week, so i may post that later on this week
and just to add, that i didnt even know savagep&r knew about them so thats pretty cool
but yeh, way to support young new music by bitchin at me  haha

Supporting music because it's 'young and new' is stupid.
I support bands based on talent and originality, as opposed to because they're fledglings in the scene..

Hello , no I am CERTAINLY NOT in the band, I am from a London based a&r company.
I have actually seen this band, however I havent seen any of your bands, although if you would like to post links to songs that you have written I am happy to listen to them to and give my humble opinion as to whether i would sign you up or whether I think (in my own opinion) you stand a chance as I have been in the music industry for nearly two decades.
For demo quality it is one of the best i have ever heard.

Yeah, i mean this is a recommendations thread isnt it. If you've heard of a good band and think they're good, spread the word, and tell others. I doesnt hurt to take a quick listen, if its not ur kind of thing then no worries, but if you like it, why not say what you like about, to let the band know if people like it, and to let other listeners know its gd or not good. Theres no need for pointless name calling.

this band really inspired me to start a band, now we have started to get together for band practice, hope it goes well for them.
hey, after reading this thread and all the disagrementsi had to go check this band!!! i guess with all this bitching it just means good publicity for them!!! well it made me want to go look lol.
anyway i checked them out, i thought they were pretty good, i mean hell yeah there are quite a few bands out there at the mo thats doin this type of music but to say they supposidly come from a tiny island, which i have never heard of before, i think its really good. and looking at the pic of the front cover of the ep it looks like they have bothered to get good artwork etc, it seems that they are making an effort which sounds quite difficult to do when coming from such a small place.
dissmissing them off just like that with no actually analysis or evidence to back up your opions just shows that you obviosly dont know much and are very narrow minded to just come up with the argument...its rubbish.
anyhow best of luck to them sounds as if they deserve it

i had kinda stoped caring about this forum but i thought id look back to say that theres a new song on their myspace www.myspace.com/themidcarsoncoalition which think is really cool and its funny how your all convinced that i have a bunch of sn's ? thats stupid, why dont you check my ip address or email if you dont belive me?..because if any of you have youd see and so what if its alot of poeples first post? iv already told you i told people i was promoting the band? so chances are most of them signed up to just to mention themim gonna stop giving a band bad press by trying to defend them to people who at the end of the day are insignificant in their scene no matter how many thousand posts they have on a forum of scene kidsid rather you were dead too, seeing as none of you could come back with anything for savage p&r, someone who actually knows there shit and doesnt just wear a t-shirt about it cos i got chatting to him and hes someone whos been there aswell as promoted it, any of you had your tracks praised and played by the late great john peel?later xi know youll bitch on, but at the end of the day your just some kids on a forum wishing they mattered

They are trying to get heard but i can assure you that each person on this thread are a seperate entity. I come from a place where people give stuff a fair go and don't slate it out of jealousy. In a music scene people should help each other, not compete against each other, that is for sports people.
I am not full of shit I am heavily involved in a thriving music scene in London.
I am helping this band and putting my beleif and reputation behind them.
I would like to know exactly what is "shit" about that.

i gave it a fair go. i listened to it and it was garbage.
and i did not dismiss it because i was jealous, thats fucking ridiculous. the music sucked, plain and simple. you think way too highly of the music if you think that anybody who dislikes them must be jealous.
jimmy savage
11/09/05, 07:16 AM
I wasnt talking about being jealous of the music i was talking about being jealous of the popularity, and I didnt say that you slated it because of jealousy. Anyway no matter!
Who do you like music wise out of interest?
I am still going to promote this band.
If you could offer some constructive critisism as opposed to "It sucks" I am sure the band would take it on board.
And I dont mean , the vocals suck, the guitar is cliche, I want to know why ypu thnk so, that woul dbe helpful!

if people on here are as willing to give people a chance as much as they say they are then im sureyou all wont mind listening to thier new song and giving some feedback, even if its really bad feedback, but i think the songs change every so often or somethin but this is the first time iv seen that one on there, and i like. dont think the vocals an really be complained about that much , guitar is no "fall of troy" but its catchy in my opinion. theres a cool heavy bit in the middle of a chorus which i wasnt expecting

Joyzine Review

THE MID CARSON COALITION - BRING ME THE ASHES
You have your whole life to make your first record; of course The Mid Carson Coalition had no interest in listening to such archaic rock clichés, barely waiting eighteen to pick up the mantle. Bands such as this often face an uphill challenge to be separated from stifling titles and genre baiting such as emo or metalcore, these are genres saturated with identikit bands all performing the same songs with the same pre-packaged/fabricated heartfelt emotion. To set yourself apart you need more than simply great songs. They also face one of the harsh realities of committing work to tape, the endless quest to capture every bead of sweat, every sinew and fibre of the energy that feeds each song, that pulses lifeblood through every live show, to try and bring each and every listener front row stage centre to their own private performance. As bands approach their debut record it is easy to fail in capturing the essence of songs as they exist live.
It takes approximately thirty seconds for such fears to be dispelled, and there is no doubting the integrity of the songs on display. This is a record made as much for each other as for those they hope it reaches. Virtually every song contains references to the bond between the band, no more so than the chorus to ‘As One’ a blistering ode to brotherhood, which thunders past leaving you breathless like the feeling of standing too close to the edge of the platform as the tube flies past; breathless. That The Mid Carson Coalition have the songs is clearly not in doubt and only time will reveal if they have that essence and heart that will take them beyond the confines of their roots and influences into a truely powerful band in their own right. This is a record of surprising maturity and for a self financed release it claims the impressive accolade that it stands equal to be judged against all comers, shedding the deadweight tag ‘local release’. Songs such ‘Love.Light.Lies’ and ‘Bleeding In Black and White’ may wear their influences plainly on their sleeves, but they are put together in such a way and performed with an intensity and passion that lifts them above so many bands. The three way vocals add a contrast and depth to the record, colouring the vocals enough to make sure that your interest never wanes.
Through all the screamo elements, the Maiden-esque riffs and requisite beatdowns the biggest delight throughout is the strength of melody and song writing. This is a record that infects your subconscious, surfacing unannounced in your shower, car, on the bus, when you wake up, in the library, or at the supermarket. These songs will beat their way into your affections and haunt you mercilessly should you dare to leave them unplayed for longer than one day! This is an impassioned debut that pronounces a new talent deserving of your utmost attention, yet leaving enough rough edges to give hope and scope for the next instalment. The strength already on display equalled by the promise of future glories weighted heavy in the air.

i must say, this thread is hilarious.
even if these "people" are actually each unique, it's pretty fucking sad that a band would think that spamming absolutepunk.net (by encouraging their friends/myspace fans to go into [this] thread(s) and say how awesome they are) they'd be able to get big.
oh and mr. promotion company. good luck with that, if this is the best you can think of, you're doomed. (ps, people gave it a fair chance.)
