The 90s was an awesome decade for music and The Smashing Pumpkins put out some great music.

But were you a fan of them? (http://blaremagazine.com/2009/03/20/one-more-trip-the-smashing-pumpkins/)

Leave us a line and let us know if you liked them or not!

I like "Mellon Collie..." and "Siamese Dream." Though I don't know if only liking 2 albums out of their whole discography makes me a fan.

They were sweet but Zeitgeist can suck it

I was a big Smashing Pumpkins fan when I was younger. I just listened to "Siamese Dream" the other day.

'Today' and 'Tonight, Tonight' for the amazing Méliès video.
I wouldn't go as far as fan though.

Shame everyone thinks Billy is Gerard Way. That must be a complete self esteem killer.

"1979" is a classic. And so is the episode of the simpsons they were on.

I know about three songs, so I'd say nooo.

I *was* a fan, not sure if I am now or not. I don't think their stuff has aged well at all. I used to love Siamese Dream, and until a few years ago I would've called it one of my favorite albums of the 90's. But now it sounds so dated, so cliched, I can barely listen to parts of it. I think Adore has held up better than the rest, but I still listen so rarely that I dunno if I'd say I'm a fan or not.

Yeah 1979 is great and that one about "the greatest day ever..."?

But his voice always annoyed me. I probably couldn't sit through an entire album of theirs.

And then I heard that they don't even acknowledge the fact that they're from the awesome city of Chicago. The starlight went their heads maybe?

i liked gish at the time, even though i mostly listened to hip hop at the time
now i think they are kinda bland
possibly it's the bad 'taste' of the recent output from former members ruining the memories

Still a mad Pumpkins fan. New album sucks, but everyone seems to have the same opinion. Honestly, anyone who appreciates anything past Deus Ex Machina can't be a fan because they're usually in seventh grade and too young to have listened to Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream. I still respect them as one of the greatest if not the greatest band of the 90's. Their influences earlier on were respectable and the mixture of music they did was far different from any alternative band, ever.

His voice gets annoying about 3 songs or 10 minutes into an album, whichever comes first, but I love Mellon Collie, Siamese Dream, and Adore. All of their other albums were shite to me.

wow, a lot of pumpkin haters... i always loved adore, best album in my opinion. i don't think zeitgeist was as bad as it could have been. i mean if it wasn't the pumpkins and it was some new band that had just come out with it i think everyone would like it a lot more...that make sense? :-/

I never remember actually getting into them. The vocals just weren't for me I guess. Though I did like this one song. But yeah other than that, nah.

I'm a big fan but I'm very pissed that Jimmy left. They're one of my favorite bands prettymuch ever.

Grew up a huge Pumpkins fan. I still enjoy them. This thread has inspired me to throw on some Siamese Dream.

Also, Corgan is an underrated guitar player. Dude can play his ass off.
