Clearly, there have been other people to have made this thread, but none of them have lasted more than a couple of days before they die; I have the vain idea that I can make a thread that'll last a little longer. Just giving props to all of Richard D. James's projects (Aphex Twin, AFX, Universal Indicator, etc.) and wanted to know if there's anyone here who loves his music as well

Can't get enough of this guy and his music. Richard D. James is one of my absolute favorite albums and Selected Ambient Works, Analord, Drukqs etc. are all wonderful, creative releases.

Chyes, Richard D. James Album was fucking sick, and so were the SAW albums. I've been listening to him like non stop for the past few hours and every time I see the "Windowlicker" uncensored video I can't help but laugh uncontrollably.

I love Boards of Canada, that's a good choice if you had to pick an electronic/electronica kind of musician.

Richard D. James Album was the first electronica album I ever bought, and it's probably also the best.

His work on Richard D. James Album and Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is a must if you like Boards of Canada. I mean, if you like BoC, you're going to like those two albums, although Aphex Twin's work most like BoC is his 26 Mixes For Cash in my opinion. But their processes are different. Boards of Canada use a lot more analog equipment, live music, and they often interweave melodies to make a more atmospheric piece, and something a lot warmer and less synthetic. Aphex Twin uses solely electronic instruments, computer programming, glitch, and standard beat mixing which he's been the precedent for. I mean, if you like BoC, you're going to like Aphex Twin, but in reality, the two are very different in their processes.

Me too, that Windowlicker video maede me laugh my ass off, and that album is great.

He's better. They both owe a lot to him in terms of innovation.
