I was never a huge death cab fan until now. This is really the only album released this year that hit me on an emotional level. Brothers on a hotel bed is just beautiful, as nearly every song on this album is. Plans has incredible lasting value, thats what sets it apart from most of 2005's releases. lyrics like this line are really intiguing "when heaven and hell decide, that they both are satisfied, illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs." I know a lot of people have certain expectations for this band but I think whatever they are they won't let you down. If you haven't bought this yet, go do so.

Welcome to the club.
Plans rocks, but it's probably their worst full length so far. That speaks volumes for their older work. My favorite's still Transatlanticism.

I dont know. I mean, I would love to get down and suck off ben gibbard for his musical talents just as much as the next guy, but Plans is nothing compared to their other albums. and that is NOT! because of the record label switch, so lets not start an indie back stabbing rant. However, Brothers on a hotel bed is one of the best songs they have ever made. so is I will follow you into the dark.... and what sarah said.....and crooked teeth.....and soul meets body.....ok. I guess its a pretty good album.
It's alright.
We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes is still my favorite album by them.

I never really had gotten into DCFC. Even after i got the cd i never really could get into it. I left it in my moms car one day and then she started ranting and raving about how she loved the cd. I gave it another listen after this and it has been in heavy rotation since.

Plans had been my favorite record of the year thus far, but in the last month, I've fallen head over heels for the Jack's Mannequin record. Plans will still likely be in my Top 3 for the year, though.
Nothing beats Transatlanticism for me, though. The Photo Album is very good, but I like Plans a little more.

Plans is their worst record in my opinion, but that by no means makes it bad. THere are some terrific songs on there. Death Cab is arguably my favorite band, and this album is the once I connect with the least. Maybe that will change eventually.

I fell really hard for Jacks mannequin too, but Im slowly realizing thats its really not an amazing album. Its good, but its nothing hugely amazing. Still good though.

I think Jacks Mannequin is way better than good, definatley top 5 releases this year. The record (much like Death Cab's record) accomplished exactly what it set out to do. Andrew McMahon wants to be our generation's Brian Wilson and now he practically is, and Death Cab wanted to stop singing about heartbreak and sing about life. Now I am not knocking Death Cab for all those about to jump down my throat, I love that band, I just think their new album is more mature. But my top 5 are 1. Death Cab 2. Spill Canvas 3. Jack's Mannequin 4. Copeland 5. Gatsby's American Dream
