I personally love both GJ full-lengths as well as the EP...so I find plenty of consistency in quality.

I used to be really angry; Glassjaw connected with me. Now, I'm not nearly as angry; Glassjaw connects with me in new ways.

Somebody else got my sentiments spot-on earlier in the thread (sorry, I didn't quote it): Muse is a great, great band with great musicians, textures, and ambition. Glassjaw has many of the same qualities, it just connects with me more. A Muse record will be in rotation on your music player of choice because it's awesome. A Glassjaw record will ruin your cd player because it'll spin non-stop for two years.

Now, if Cave In would be mentioned, it would have been a different story. No one beats Cave In.

No Knife vs. Muse: that one's even harder.

Agreed. I liked Glassjaw in high school. It was raw, it was heavy, and Daryl Palumbo is a great lyricist and emotionally interesting front man. But they still don't compare to Muse, for me. I remember the first time I heard Muse, I was just like "Hooollllyyyy Fuck.... What is this?" and I've been a rabid fan ever since. Their live show is one of the best in the world. They're better than Glassjaw, in my opinion. And it doesn't help that Glassjaw haven't released anything but subpar teasers in the last few years, while Muse have released several amazing albums and a mind blowing DVD .

I've been listening/known Glassjaw for almost 10 years. Dont make assumptions. My best friend is a huge GJ fan so they were impossible for me to avoid for a huge portion of my life. I've been dragged to plenty of shows over the years of theirs. First show was in 00 with the Movielife.

I know all about EYEWTKAS and Worship and Tribute. I actually enjoy Worship and Tribute but the lyrics are nothing above average. As for EYEWTKAS, there's more then 1 song featuring misogyny laden lyrics. If that doesnt bother you then keep listening. Not me though.

Although, I still disagree with you. Muse kicks serious ass. You should check out Absolution. That was one of my favorite records when I was 14/15. (However, it received only slightly more play time than Worship and Tribute, which was another one of my favorites back then.)

I feel like Absolution is more focused than Black Holes, although Absolution's best songs aren't quite as good as the best songs on Black Holes. It might be more your thing.

Edit: All this talk about Muse's genius has forced me to put on The Origin of Symmetry. Ugh... I love this band... :-( I can't believe this record came out in fucking 2001... That blows my mind. I was 11 years old. Jesus.

Glassjaw has EYEWTKAS and Worship and Tribute (those two CDs were part of high school for me), and the new song they posted a while back was great as well. Everything else pre-EYEWTKAS is irrelevant to me.

I enjoyed Muse's Showbiz and Absolution. Black Holes and Revelations was a disappointing-though-not-too-bad record, although it had "Starlight" on it.

Either band would be considered a win to me though. Hard decision.
